K5 ROM upgrades / PayPal?

Hi Antoine,

I clicked the Pay button and got this:.

Transaction cannot be processed because the invoice has been canceled,
paid, or closed; contact the recipient for more information.

Then I got this in my email.

...Invoice Cancelled...

You should announce to the group when you are ready for us to pay for
the chips.

K5 ROM Orders... almost

Hi all,

as you've seen, I sent invoices and cancelled them...

It turns out PayPal charges $0.60 to $1.00 per transaction, and only
allows a maximum of 5 incoming transactions per year with a personal
account. (Of course, they only talk about this once you receive
payments.)

There's also some problems with shipping, I heard that some people got
their PayPal and bank accounts closed because they didn't ship through
the PayPal shipping assistant.

I know the shipping rates, but I'm not sure about what to fill in the
customs documents. (PayPal provides a broken link to Canada Post's
website)

Basically, I might have to upgrade to a different account type (more
fees) and will have to go at the post office again to get more info on
what to fill in.

Oops!

Well, I suppose I'll hear from you on me jumping the gun and sending you a payment.

Sorry,

Re: K5 ROM Orders... almost

OK, well for PayPal, no more problems, it turns out I just had to
upgrade my account. I need to send every invoices again though. Now I
know how much they take on every transactions. Still, I can't ship the
ROMs without the customs information (dead link).

Re: K5 ROM Orders... almost

Hi Antoine

Try this for size - a whole chapter of rules and regs:

http://www.canadapost.ca/business/tools/pg/manual/PGcustoms-e.asp#1373264

But the guts of it is you need to get custom declaration stickers from
the post office to put on the outside of the envelope, you need to
declare the goods as 'electronic components' with a value of $6 and
that will be all that is required. Low value items like this are not
generally taxed in any way.

Cheers,
Nicolas

ROM order PayPal invoices

I got the exact weight for different ROM quantities eariler today.
I'll send the invoices once I get home in a few hours. (They will be
around $0.50 more -> PayPal fees)

Cheers,
Antoine

Re: Re: K5 / K5m ROM upgrades

Hi Donn,

I have some spares. The ROM costs $6 CAD, and shipping is $3.42 (actual
shipping + packaging) to USA + PayPal fees (around $0.60)

K5 ROM is V1.3, K5m is V1.2, K4 is V1.4, K4r is V1.4

Cheers,
Antoine
