4ad Poster Set?

Hey all.

I've been a lurker for a while but now I need your help!

Many years ago, I purchased a set of 4ad posters in a tube-I'm sure you all
know what I'm talking about. It had a Pixies Trompe Le Monde print, a
Breeders Safari print, Lush, HNIA, Red House Painters, Unrest, etc. I was
young and stupid and working at a record store and it came in and my boss
couldn't find room for it so I got to keep it.

I kept many of the posters but have since lost the tube and whatever posters
I hadn't hung. I dunno. I think a college roommate stole it.

I'm looking to buy this collection again as one poster (HNIA) was recently
destroyed in an apartment flood (long story) and my insurance company wants
an estimate on what it would cost to replace it. Since it's a one-of-a-kind
collection, I need some kind of documentation (a website selling the item,
for example) that shows what it would cost to replace the collection. But
aside from the insurance issue, I just really want all those posters again!
(I managed to hang on the Unrest, Breeders, and Pixies posters, though).

Can anyone help me?

Thanks in advance! Back to the new Muses.

Re: 4ad Poster Set?

Alice,
You can go on eBay and search the completed auctions. The poster sets
turn up from time to time.

Re: some question about 4ad compliation

I think I know what you're talking about...something which sounds similar
came up on ebay awhile back and I was so intrigued that I saved the picture.
Unfortunately I got rid of the accompanying info on it, so the rest is from
memory.

The picture shows a black cardboard CD wraparound. Printed across the
wraparound are the bands Lush, Dead Can Dance, Pixies, and Cocteau Twins.
I seem to remember that this was a promotional item which included one album
by each of the bands listed. By the fold in the wraparound I would guess
that the CDs were housed in paper or cardboard sleeves and not jewel cases.

I have no idea where it was made, if it's legit, how many were made, why they
were sent out, or what this item smells like. Each of the bands DID release
material in 1990, so it could be from around that time. In which case I
doubt it's US since all the bands were licensed here and there at that time -
Lush with Reprise, Cocteau Twins with Capitol, Pixies with Elektra, and DCD
didn't even have any American releases at that time. Though I think all of
them sleep under the Warner house roof. I'm sure someone on the 4AD
messageboard could comment more on it.

Re: some question about 4ad compliation

thank you cj!!!i dont know what are they but i really got one (2cd) of them, the cover is a hand with a ring which
seized half of the area and another half with the betiful front printed" sound of 4ad" and the track
released as band, such as cocteau, dead can dance, the the, birthday party, clan of xymox,
swallow,lush,his name is alive,micheal brook,pale saint, spirea x,ect...and a freind of mine think 4ad
had never release and compliation like that and think that should be a bootlegs, but i dont think so coz the
graphic design appears to at 23 envelope. and the i konw there is only one track from cocteau twins in Part 1:
spangle maker. and only one from lush: delux, and one from his name is alive: are we still maried...so i hope
there could be more people as kind as you give me more commment about that:) iso with lots of thanks
