MySQL Domains

Hey all,

OK, we all know we can add users directly into MySQL.
But... can we do the same with Domains?

I'm thinking this is not possible since typically no-one emails
postmaster so vpopmail wouldn't know when to creat the domain root
directory, just curious if anyone has attempted this and found an
easy work around.

Strange maildirsize problem

Hello,

I am having a problem with the way the maildirsize file is being updated by vdelivermail.  For every message that is delivered to a given maildir two entries are made in the maildirsize file.  The first entry that is appended to maildirsize is always about 60 – 80 bytes less than the second entry.  The first entry is always smaller that the actual file size of the incoming message.  The second entry that is appended for the message is correct; the byte count is the same as the incoming message size.

Example:

Here is an ls –lah of the maildir:

-rw-------  1 vpopmail vchkpw  263 2008-07-02 14:07 1215025667.7254.hecate,S\=263

-rw-------  1 vpopmail vchkpw  263 2008-07-02 14:11 1215025866.8159.hecate,S\=263

-rw-------  1 vpopmail vchkpw  263 2008-07-02 14:11 1215025897.8281.hecate,S\=263

-rw-------  1 vpopmail vchkpw  268 2008-07-02 14:12 1215025944.8461.hecate,S\=268

Here is the contents of maildirsize for that maildir:

If you notice the last few entries you will see what I mean about the duplicate byte counts added to the file.

I really haven’t noticed this issue until I upgraded to vpopmail 5.4.25.  This is also occurring on two different mail servers of mine both running the vpopmail 5.4.25.

When I download a message via POP3 the quota file gets updated properly but because of the extra entries made when a message was delivered the maildirsize eventually gets out of whack and vpopmail thinks the user is over quota.

Any ideas what is going on here?  I’m thinking of downgrading vpopmail but I am still curious if this is a bug with 5.4.25 or what the deal is?

RE: Strange maildirsize problem

Well after searching archives for this list I notice other people having the same issue with 5.4.25.  I downgraded to 5.4.24 and now the maildirsize file is being updated properly by vdelivermail.

I am still curious what is causing the duplicate maildirsize entries to occur.  Anyone have any ideas out there?

This is a long-standing bug in the last two released versions of vpopmail,
first reported early last year. Unfortunately the maintainers haven't seen
fit to roll up a version without this bug even though it's been (apparently)
fixed in the codebase since last fall.

Grab the codebase version or revert to 5.4.23. That's the only honest
answer... you don't need to roll back the MySQL tables. *.24 had some issue,
unfortunately it's now been so long since a vpopmail release that I don't
remember what it was.

I'm starting to think someone needs to fork vpopmail (if possible), since the
maintainers appear to have no interest in vpopmail anymore. I'd have done it
already, pending a study of the license, if I had better coding abilities.
As an example, also lapsed is the support in courier-imap for vpopmail
because the vpopmail maintainers have stopped submitting or signing off on
the vpopmail authentication code in courier-authdaemon.

Sorry there isn't better news.

Hi,

I believe the courier problem resides with Mr Sam. I know for a fact
that at least one of the devs has submitted patches that were ignored.

I believe it was Bill but I could be wrong.

If the devs want to roll out a new version I do have a couple of
different OS's I can test the current dev code on.

Tom, Rick, Bill ? Any interest ?

Regards,

Rick

userspace

Hi,

Is it possible to access vauth_user from userspace? I started working
on a program to authenticate the vpopmail users, but I think that this
needs to happen as either root or the vchkpw user.

delivery failure

hi all...

i can figure why this is not working....

i have vpopmail installed and as far as adding domains and users it
works fine. all the files under qmail/control are edited -
virtualdomains, rcpthosts - but after restart and sending mail to the
machine the log says:

delivery 271: failure: Sorry,_no_mailbox_here_by_that_name._(#5.1.1)

i can figure why... it's a brand new install... netqmail-1.06
vpopmail-5.4.2

where do i look?

thanks..

Re: delivery failure

Hi,

Has this ever worked?
How did you compile vpopmail?
Are you using something other than netqmail, like chkusr patch?
..and I hope you did not mean vpopmail 5.4.2 but 5.4.(24|25|26)

Re: delivery failure

sorry... i had to change mail accounts... no. it never worked. vpomail is compiled from source with: $ ./configure --enable-clear-passwd --enable-valias --enable-auth-module=mysql --enable-domainquotas --disable-roaming-users i haven;t added anything to this installation. just trying to set it for the first time on this machine... the tar i fot off the inter7 site is called vpopmail-5.4.2.tar.gz there is no (24|25|26) all the files Hi, Has this ever worked? How did you compile vpopmail? Are you using something other than netqmail, like chkusr patch? ..and I hope you did not mean vpopmail 5.4.2 but 5.4.(24|25|26) On 06/07/08 05:14:16, kalin m wrote:
