[sylpheed:34233] Cannot save to outbox

Hi everyone,

I have Sylpheed set to automatically check for new mail every
10 minutes. If I happen to send an e-mail at the point when
it's checking for mail (which takes a while; ancient ugly, slow
IMAPS server), my message gets sent, but as the IMAP connection
is busy, I receive an error telling me the message could not be
saved to the outbox. The message window is then closed.
Thus, I have sent the message, but have no record of it
whatsoever.

That is.... unacceptable to say the least.

Additionally, the message itself is confusing as "Outbox" refers
to the outgoing message queue in most programs, not the sent-mail
folder. The first few times, I re-wrote the message and was then
told by the recipient that they'd received it multiple times. (In
that case, it happened because the IMAP server was down, the SMTP
wasn't, as I recall)

Has anyone else experienced this? Or do I have a completely messed
up setting somewhere? Should be a relatively simple fix in any case.

Thanks, and a nice weekend to everybody.

Regards,
Tom

I second this. "unacceptable" is hard. I'd say extremely disturbing.

Yes, I have.

I'm using Sylpheed 3.0.3 (GTK+ 2.10.13; i686-pc-linux-gnu)

[sylpheed:34235] Sylpheed 3.0.3 and Gpg4win 2.0.4 problem

Sylpheed 3.0.3 and Gpg4win 2.0.4 problem

Hi list,

Under Windows Seven starter (french), if I use Sylpheed 3.0.3 with
Gnupg 1.4.10 binary from ftp.gnupg.org, it works perfectly.

However, this version of Gnupg being not installed and Gpg4win 2.0.4
being installed instead, if I run Sylpheed, there is a message box
saying that Gnupg is not installed correctly and Gnupg is deactivated
in Sylpheed.

But Claws-mail works flawlessly with the Gpg4win version of Gnupg, so
the problem seems to make Sylpheed recognize this version of Gnupg
version properly:
Any hint of how to do that?

Thanks in advance,
Didier Gaumet.

I was able to remove the startup error message by editing the registry
and changing 'HKCU\Software\GNU\GnuPG\gpgProgram' from

  %ProgramFiles%\GNU\GnuPG\gpg.exe

to

  %ProgramFiles%\GNU\GnuPG\pub\gpg.exe

Additionally I set 'HKLM\Software\GNU\GnuPG\Install Directory' to

I still do not have a very good understanding of the problem and why it
does or does not occur. I have, however, had gpg4win working with
Sylpheed for some time now without any larger incidents (or cmd windows)
and without doing any re-configuring on the gpg side - as stated in the
attached previous message.

Hope it helps.

On my Windows 7 starter Fr the gpgProgram subkey did not exist
(HKCU\Software\GNU\GnuPG is present), so I created it but without any
success: Sylpheed still refused to recognize gnupg as correctly
installed.

Anyway, thank you for the tip.

Thank you very much: indeed it works perfectly.

Just to clarify it a little, do you mean libgpg-error-0.dll and
libgpgme-11.dll from the recent Gpg4win bundle? I couldn't find these
libraries for download on the GnuPG official site. Neither, it seems, to be
distributed with their cli package for Windows. Strange...

Ah, that was written a little unclearly indeed. ;)
I meant the GPG4Win versions. I simply copied them from
C:\Program Files (x86)\GNU\GnuPG
(and replace them for each new Sylpheed or gpg4win version *g*)

[sylpheed:34242] Sylpheed Should Warn If Received Message Exceeds Size Limit

Hello,

My receive size limit is set at the default of 1024kB. Someone sent me
an email file attachment that exceeded this limit. Sylpheed just
silently ignored this message and left it on the server. I had no
indication that it was there.

Sylpheed should warn the user that a message is available that exceeds
the receive size limit. The user could then decide to download the message
from the server or not. If Sylpheed issues no warning or indication then
the user will never know that a message has been sent and still exists on
the server.
