[sylpheed:32699] Sylpheed in Ubuntu 8.10 Intrepid Ibex & libbluetooth.so.3

Has anyone else run into this? I upgraded to Xubuntu/Ubuntu 8.10 and
then tried to install/run Sylpheed (both 2.5.0 and 2.6.0beta1). All
I got was an error message about libbluetooth.so.2 shared library not
being available. Some poking around indicated Xubuntu 8.10 uses
libbluetooth.so.3. I created a symbolic link for so.2 pointing to
so.3 and Sylpheed was happy. Adjustment needed somewhere?

Ahem, I'm running Ubuntu 8.10 and use the included Sylpheed 2.5.0
without a hitch. I just looked and I see that sylpheed is happily
using libbluetooth version 3.

Which pacakge did you use for sylpheed?

Greetings
Jocki

Thanks for the reply. The issue is likely related to the fact that I
did not use the version of Sylpheed in the 8.10 repositories. (When I
tried that it wanted to install Claws as well and I didn't want to go
down that road.) I used a .deb I had made earlier on my then Hardy
8.04 system from the source code downloaded from the Sylpheed web

I can't reproduce that in sylpheed 2.5.0.

[sylpheed:32704] jpilot address book and Freebsd

I have a trouble with Sylpheed 2.5.0 and the Address book from Jpilot
1.6.0 (I have also upgraded pilot-link to the current version) on
FreeBSD.

Not all records are displayed and there is a character conversion
problem for the data. Character conversion is not critical but I want
at least read all entries.

The AddressDB file is ok: Jpilot display all entries without characters
problem. I tried also the file with the same software versions
(Sylpheed, Jpilot) on Ubuntu and it is fine. This is a problem only on
FreeBSD 6.4 (Prerelease)

About character conversion I have the following messages displayed:
 (sylpheed:93595): Pango-WARNING **: Invalid UTF-8 string
passed to pango_layout_set_text()
when I open the AddressBook in Sylpheed.

Did you know this problem (a similar problem happens in 2006) ?

[sylpheed:32705] Certain Messages aren't beeing filteres

Sylpheed 2.5
Windows XP SP1

Hi,

I'm trying to filter messages by checking the 'X-Spam-Flag' in the header against 'YES'. The
problem is that sylpheed only filters some of the messages. When I look at the header of two
different messages, I find both have the same X-Spam-Flag, but one gets filtered, the other not.

Any Ideas?

Christoph

I think that there is more than one reason because some messages are
filtered and others don't.

One of them: there is another rule above the X-SPAM-FLAG-rule that is
performed before and even the headline of X-SPAM-FLAG is reported the
email is not filtered because another filter rule "check" your email.

Hope this helps.

I have removed all other rules (actually only one), so the only rule left is this one. You can look
at it's definition here:

http://home.kobenetz.de/~christoph/sylpheed-filter/

I have also put two Mails each filtered and not filtered in the directory. I directly copied the
files from the sylpheed directory and renamed them.

Hope you have some more Ideas, otherwise I will have to edit the files until I find the exact
difference that will make the unfiltered filtered and vice versa.

Thanks for your help,

Christoph

Try changing your "To" filter rule from "is" to "contains".
