[sylpheed:35659] sylpheed and sylfilter

Dear Hiroyuku and others,

I am using sylpheed with sylfilter. For a particular e-mail I get the following:

% sylfilter Mail/inbox/5972
Mail/inbox/5972: This is a junk mail (prob: 1.000000)

It appears therefore that sylfilter classifies junk mail correctly (in this case).
However, sylpheed does not actually put it in the Junk folder. Here is what I have set up in the sylpheed preferences:

Enable Junk mail control checked

Learning command:
Junk: sylfilter -j
Not Junk: sylfilter -c
Classifying command: sylfilter

To classify junk mails automatically, both junk and not junk mail will be moved to this folder. If empty, the
default junk folder will be used.
Filter messages classified as junk on receiving (checked)
Filter junk mails before normal filtering (checked)
Delete junk mails from server on receiving (checked)
Mark filtered junk mails as read (checked)

I am a little confused as to why the moving the mail into the junk filter does not work. What do I have to do
additionally to make this filtering work?

I am using sylfilter version 0.8 configured as follows:

./configure --with-libsylph=sylpheed --with-libsylph-dir=/usr

[sylpheed:35650] openning attachments

Hello group -

I'm running Sylpheed 3.2.0 on Linux Mint 14 and am having trouble opening attachments from within the
message. For example, I send myself a .doc or .docx and when I double-click on it the Libre Office logo
flickers on the screen but nothing else happens.

Thoughts welcome.

Reid

[sylpheed:35647] Filtering Usenet News?

After the issue with the additional header line, maybe someone can also
help me to get filters for Usenet News working. When I define a filter
(e.g. for a certain "From:"-address, "mark as read"), it is not applied
automatically when I fetch new news, but I have to apply it manually.

Is this the way it's supposed to be or am I doing something wrong?

TIA,

Sincerely,

Wolfgang

[sylpheed:35646] export mail data

Hello group -

I'm new to Sylpheed, running version 3.2.0 on Mint 14. This question is about the export/import function.

It appears to export one folder per execution so, to facilitate backup, I put my created additional folders
under the Inbox. I exported the Inbox but when I did a test import I see none of sub-folders. Is that how the
export/import function is supposed to work, or did I miss something? I looked at the manual and it doesn't say.

Thx

Reid

[sylpheed:35644] Sylpheed Link opening --> can't open bookmark in Opera

I've had this weird problem since January between Sylpheed and Opera
browser. In any computer session with Opera open, once I open a link
from an email in Sylpheed, all attempts to open links from Mailwasher
Pro and Bookmark Buddy (bookmark utility) return a "Another user is
running a copy of Opera" error box. At this point, I have to
close Opera and start again. This kind of error usually signals an
incorrect install of Opera as a multi-user setup instead of a single
user, but in this case the install is correct, and I've done a clean
install during this time. The error does not occur when opening links
in those other apps first, only after opening one from Sylpheed.

I don't know that Sylpheed is at fault, only that it precipitates the
problem and it's a recent development, so it's worth posing the
matter here. Another Opera user to two have reported something
similar, but their fix didn't solve mine.

[sylpheed:35637] Attach not seeing user/system folders

Sylpheed 3.4.0 beta 3/Win 8x64, Sylpheed set to run as an administrator.
I'm trying to attach some files from C: \Users \Gene1 \AppData \Roaming
\... and at Gene1 the Attach dialogue is not seeing the Windows or
system related folders, such as AppData, Cookies, Local Settings, My
Documents, etc. It's been awhile since I sent a file from there, but I
recall in Win 7 ...\ApplicationData was there. I don't see a setting
in Config. Is there one or is something else going on (left out of the
beta)? Thanks,

Gene

[sylpheed:35635] Support for "Mail-Copies-To:" header?

Hello,

I could not find a way to add a "Mail-Copies-To:" header (with the
"never" value, of course) to my usenet messages to avoid getting those
annoying dis-"courtesy" copies:

In this release, several bugfixes and feature improvements were made.

  * Quotation of forwarded messages is enabled for template now.

    inserted with '%d'.
  * Rebuilding of folder tree which was broken at 3.4.0beta1 was fixed
    (#103).
  * The bug that double-quote (") and backslash (\) in
folder/username/password were not escaped and could not be used on

[sylpheed:35632] Reading messages in thread order?

Hi folks - longtime user of Sylpheed here, many thanks to Hiroyuki for
my favorite email tool!

Something that's always bothered me a bit is the way messages are read.
Even though I have threading on, messages always seem to be read in the
order received. It can be very disconcerting to be reading through a
stack of messages from a mailing list and find myself jumping from thread
to thread.

Is there a way I can read the messages in the same order that they're listed
in the summary view? I've combed through the docs and the settings but
never found anything relevant.

[sylpheed:35630] Sylpheed "looses" filters

Hello,

try the following (on Windows):

- select a message from then Inbox
- right-click, select "define filter - automatically"
- define the filter, but do not close the dialog box with the lists of
all filters afterwards
- terminate Sylpheed "abnormally" (by killing it from the process
manager)

Upon restarting Sylpheed, the list of filters is empty, all filters are
lost.

Since Windows frequently gets hickups, especially when doing I/O (such
as writing to disk), it does so sometimes right in the moment when I
just have defined a new filter, so Sylpheed gets terminated abnormally
(not by me, it's just this §$%& <at> #! non-operating system that locks up)
and all my filter are lost. Which is annoying, since I have several
hundreds of filters. And by the time I notice it, all filter.xml.bak
files have been overwritten with an empty filter list.

Another bug I frequently encounter on Windows is that when I open a
message from the "drafts" folder (postponed reply), it is read-only and
menus as well as buttons are missing. The same happens quite frequently
when I reply to messages - the reply message window is read-only, I
can't edit anything and menus as well as buttons are missing. The
workaround is to close the window and re-open it, the second times it
is usually ok.
