[ANNOUNCE] SquirrelMail 1.4.4 Release Candidate 1 Released

Hello All,

I'm pleased to announce we have released SquirrelMail 1.4.4 Release
Candidate 1 for testing. In this release there is a long list of fixes,
updates, and changes, including some security updates.

This release also introduces a shift in release stragegy. The locales
packages are no longer shipped with the main SquirrelMail download, and as
such, the download sizes are much smaller. Seperate locales will be
available for each language shortly.

For a list of changes in this release, you can see the ChangeLog on the
SquirrelMail home page, which you can find here:

  http://www.squirrelmail.org/changelog.php

As always, bug reports, and enhancements can be submitted to us. It is
best done via the bug tracker, it helps us keep a handle on things, and
allows you to track the progress. Our bug tracker resides on sourceforge
at:

  https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_id=311&atid=100311

While not required, it is STRONGLY suggested you use an account to report
bugs as it allows you to keep us up to date, as well as us keep you up to
date on what is going on.

You can download the latest release from:

SM merely connects to an IMAP server. SM does not care what your email
system backend is. LDAP is one commonly used backend for some email
systems, but you should direct your question to a forum appropriate to
your chosen SMTP/IMAP/LDA/etc software.

Re: Deleted address

Carlos,

You have contacted the developers of the webmail software that your
email provider has chosen to use. Since our software is free for anyone
to use, we do not track who downloads and installs it. We have no
connection to your provider, and it is only your provider that will be
able to help you with your problem. Good luck contacting them.

SquirrelMail allows to store global address book in LDAP. By default LDAP
book records are available only when php has ldap extension and user
searches for address. Writing into LDAP backend currently is not
supported.

There is a third party plugin that allows to have personal address books
stored in LDAP.

Message threading

I was wondering if anyone has written a theme for squirrelmail that will
give a message threading much like what Gmail does?

I have users who were asking..

Thanks
Scott

I haven't used Gmail, so I don't know what things look like there, but
SquirrelMail does support threads if the underlying IMAP server supports
them. You, as an administrator, find these settings in "config/conf.pl"
under "4. General Options". While you're enabling "10. Allow server thread
sort" you might want to enable "11. Allow server-side sorting" as well (if
your IMAP server supports it).

Sincerely,
Fredrik.

MyDomain is you? If so, it looks to me as if you should do a google
for "joe-job".

Help with installation of 1.4.4

I am not a computer person. I have used squirrel mail exclusively this
last year, and it just seems to be an extension to my life. I know
nothing about it. I've read all the stuff presented, it might as well be
Greek. I can use email for help or AIM.
