Assuming you were running SM on the same box as the IMAP server and that
it was a simple mail app like UW-imap. There is no IMAP adduser
command. Each different IMAP app has it's own way of dealing with
users.

Too many security risks but....

You would have to consider doing it by:

1) A perl script do all this lovely stuff for you. Either from a SUID C
wrapper or a cron job that will parse a flatfile.
2) Take advantage of an auth scheme that does not use /etc/passwd. Such as
the infamous Qmail-Squirrelmail-Courier-VmailMgr (which has a wonderful
plugin called vadmin and a how-to)
3) Use a Mysql backend for auth and storing mail.

4) Ask around about other ways.

But all in all, it would take some serious coding to get the job done
(along with checking for security risks).

Spamassassin Plugin problems

I am trying to get the SA plugin working in SM 1.27 and have a few
questions.

When you choose to use spamc/spamd and enable it in sa_config.php, it
turns off the ability to turn the filters on and off in the interface.
Is this how it is supposed to work? What if the user decides they
don't want to use it anymore, but the host in question uses
spamc/spamd?

Secondly, I have a folder called "Spam" under my MailDir (.Spam
actually), but when I choose that in the interface, the left hand part
that by default says "INBOX" goes blank. Did this in the last version
also.

Finally a question regarding adding options to user_prefs. I would
like to add the option "report_header 1" and some possible other
options (RBL stuff). How would I go about doing this?

Thank you

Lyle

RE: Weather Plugin Problem

Hello Rick (and other weather plugin users),

At the moment, the weather plugin flat out sucks. I have been quite
anxious to get it back into decent shape, but I have had 2 summer
classes, and work about 50 hours a week. So rather than quit my job or
drop out of college, I decided to let the plugin go for a bit ;)

However, thankfully, summer classes are done as of tomorrow. I will be
resuming work on the plugin at that time. Hopefully within 2 weeks there
should be a *good* release of the plugin out. Prior to classes starting,
I was able to get valuable information from the NOAA through a program I
wrote. It basically converts a user-entered location (ie. zip code) to
an NOAA location (ie. station ID). This will allow the plugin to get raw
data from now on, for at least the USA, and develop weather location
information itself, rather than scraping the information off of a web
page. This will be a *good* improvement.

At this time, the best version of the plugin to use most likely is
3.0.1. I believe that is the one that uses the weather.com web site to
grab data (for both usa domestic and international locations).

Sorry for the delay, but hope to have a release out soon!

Do you mean you do not see the option to Enable/Disable filter? What the
Disable does is remove the INCLUDERC line from the .procmailrc which in
turn will disable the spamc/spamd for that user.

I haven't tested the plugin on a MailDir based system. I will have to play
with it later and see what the problem is. Could you tell me if the
..procmail-spamrc reads something like:
:0 H
* ^X-Spam-Status: Yes
..Spam

I am curious to see if my last fix actually worked :)
I will test out the cosmetic part tomorrow. (the Spam Folder Display)

Basically, you could add some options to the main.php which would be
"default" for everybody if you wanted. It is just a matter of editing a

Re: Spamassassin Plugin problems && New Version of SA Plugin 1.61

So i was not lazy for the last 10 minutes and got access to a system that
used Courier :), please read responses:

>> Secondly, I have a folder called "Spam" under my MailDir (.Spam
>> actually), but when I choose that in the interface, the left hand part
>> that by default says "INBOX" goes blank. Did this in the last version
>> also.
This is fixed as of 1.61, the problem was that split did not take well to
the delimiter being . without it being escaped with a \If anybody knows of any other delimiter's that might
cause issues, please
let me know.
The .procmail-spamrc should now have .FOLDER instead of INBOX.FOLDER if
you move things to a different folder. Somebody please confirm that this
will actually work now :) (the filtering part)
So for those people who use this plugin with MailDir, upgrade to 1.61 or
ask me what to fix in the main.php script. (2 changes + 1 variable set)
I also forgot to add the $sf_use_dot variable to sa_config.php.sample so
by default it was set to "0" which is off. Just add:
$sf_use_dot = "1"; to your sa_config.php (MailDir systems only!)

Please let me know if I missed anything

Shared Calendar does not like hash level

Hi,

Shared calendar is an excellent plugin. However, it doesn't like hashes.

When a user update a public or group calendar with data, other users can't
see the data.

If the hash is set to 0, all is well again.

Any fix for this excellent plugin?

Regards,

Squirrelspell with MySQL support?

Hello.

Are there any plans to implement MySQL (or PostgreSQL) support for
Squirrelspell? I use MySQL to store users address books and preferences,
and it's really nice to be able to get rid of all .pref and .abook files.
However, squirrelspell still generates files with user dictionaries! Would
it be possible to implement it so that the user dictionaries could be
stored in a SQL database?

best regards,
Magnus
