The translations by Andre were posted to the i18n list in April, and I
haven't received any comments on them so I decided to commit them. I can't
remember seeing Masato ever posting to the i18n list, but come to think of
it I got a link back in 2005 (see <http://marc.info/?t=113139474200002>)
to a page which might contain translations in Japanese:
<http://www.yamaai-tech.com/~masato/Download/>. Masato is still one of the
list members, so he's getting the translations sent to the list and has
the opportunity to comment them if he wants to prevent them from being
committed.

I would very much like to receive any translations to the i18n list
instead of having to collect them all over the Internet, or at least a
notice to the i18n list with a link when a translation is updated and
stored somewhere else.

Any comments from the Japanese translators? Should I take the translations
from Masato's page and put them in the SquirrelMail repository?

Sincerely,
Fredrik

Right. Sadly, my feeling is that, as requested in that thread, Andre
did not base his work on Masato's most recent translations. That to
me is a real waste as I think Masato's work is quite good.

I downloaded two random versions of SquirreMail from
http://www.yamaai-tech.com/~masato/Download. The locale directory is empty; `find .
-name '*.po'` yields no results; there are no PO files anywhere for any language.

I'd be more than happy to base translations on Masato's, but they're not at that URL.
Paul, do you know where I can find translations to continue from? I always begin with
whatever is in HEAD at http://l10n-stats.squirrelmail.org.

Thank you for your contribution. Sorry about the delay, but now it's
committed to the repository. I found one problem with the file you sent,
which you might want to correct:

locale/tr_TR/LC_MESSAGES/squirrelmail.po:3173: a format specification for
argument 2 doesn't exist in 'msgstr'
msgfmt: found 1 fatal error

Sincerely,
Fredrik

Re: Spanish translation

> I hope the attached file meets your QA requirements.

Thank you for your contribution. Sorry about the long delay, but it's
committed to the repository now. The only problem I found was that your
translation use ISO-8859-15 even though Spanish in SquirrelMail is in
ISO-8859-1. I know that there's not much difference between the two of
them. What would you suggest: update the translation to use ISO-8859-1,
update SquirrelMail to use ISO-8859-15, or make both SquirrelMail and the
translation UTF-8?

Sincerely,
Fredrik

Sorry, I was only guessing. I certainly appreciate YOUR contribution,
but didn't want to see Masato's good work go to waste. I'll have to
let Masato speak as to where the latest and greatest translations are.

Thanks,

Hi Kerem.

I used the "-c" flag when running "msgfmt":

# If I want the GNU Gettext Machine Object File
msgfmt -cvo test.mo test.po

# When testing
msgfmt -cvo /dev/null test.po

Fredrik

Re: SM 1.4.10-svn Turkish translation update

Hi Fredrik,

I will check the problem on my next translation update.

How do you check these errors? When I did "msgfmt -o ..." for the.po
file, my Debian system did not give any warnings.

Best regards,

Kerem
