Hello Peter,

Coincidentally I just fixed this yesterday. Thank you for reporting.
Please note that the plugin is not considered "stable" yet, and the
interface may change.

If you think your template is useful for other SquirrelMail users, please
send it to us and we will consider including it in the main distribution.

problems rendering single-part html to plain text

Hello list

I noticed that received html email with no plain text component still shows
the link "view as plain text". So I clicked on this link, and noticed some
discrepancies in the way the html is converted to text. Specifically, some of
the html "&" codes are left in place when perhaps they could logically be
translated to their "regular text" equivalents. Likewise, "<br>" and perhaps
"<p>" tags could be translated into line breaks.

Is this something that is already being looked at in 1.5.0? Would a patch to
modify this behavior be welcomed?

BTW, if anyone wants to generate these single-part html messages for testing,
you can use the "html mail" plugin.

What do you mean by the interface could change? The UI or the
programming interface?

It can be usefull, when I have it ready I will send it to you. I'm now
testing it so no problems will occur.

I mean the programming interface. The plugin is new and we're only
starting to add the backends. The details still have to be tested and
pehaps implemented differently to suit some backends. But because of the
hook-based setup, I hope to prevent changes that break other backends.

I cannot seem to find anywhere the requirement for 4.1.2 in the stable
branch (and neither the devel branch), and I was under the impression that
4.0.6 was enough (the INSTALL also claims 4.0.6).

The website (wiki) claims 4.1.2.

So, which one is it?

I've used version number available in wiki.
http://www.squirrelmail.org/wiki/en_US/SquirrelMailRequirements

I think v.4.0.6 has some problems with setcookie function. At least some
php scripts with 4.0.3 or better requirements were not working with php
v.4.0.6 (os=debian or mandrake).

If squirrelmail can be run with php v.4.0.6, then wiki page has to be
updated.

Is this related to:

?

Heh... I thought this was a "feature" of html mail plugin, not a bug. Some
people don't like receiving a bunch of extra message parts, so I thought this
was intentional.

In any case, even if html mail plugin starts sending multi-part messages, we
could still theoretically get single-part html messages. It would be nice if
the "view as plain text" link would handle these a bit differently.

Yes. That patch does not address the entire problem though, so I would
really recommend that you get the CVS version.
