Re: Razor-report: Error 202 while authenticating

I get this error EVERYTIME I run razor-report too. I gather about 100
emails in my "Not marked as Spam" folder and then run a script which
send all the emails to razor-report. The first 2 to three times I run
this it fails with "Error 202 while authenticating, aborting" then on
the final run, it works and sends the reports.

Its been doing it for a long time.

razor-report on maildir

Hi,

I'm wondering what the preferred solution is to report lots of messages
in a maildir as spam.

It is not feasible to report each one individually because the volume of
spam i'm reporting is far too high and my machine can't keep up.

Instead, I figured I'd write each message to maildir, and every 15
minutes by cron report the messages.

Any suggestions?

Re: razor-report on maildir

I have a folder names ANotMarkedAsSpam so it generally appears at the
top of my folder list in most apps and webmails. Any emails not marked
as spam gets put into there.

Then when I get chance, or are on the mail server for any reason, i'll
run my script which is simply

razor-report -d /home/pgudge/Maildir/.ANotMarkedAsSpam/cur/*

All the emails are sent and then I remove (Delete forever) from the
ANotMarkedAsSpam folder.

I am thinking about automating it, so that every night the script is
ran and delete all the emails in the folder from the script. But I
HAVE to run the razor-report script 3 times before it authenticates
properly and then sends the reports. You may not get this issue.

I lied...

I am getting too many messages for any shell I have to be able to
enumerate the asterisk, even when running razor-report in a continual loop:

#!/usr/local/bin/bash

PATH=/usr/local/bin:/bin

dir="/export/home/vpopmail/domains/example.com/postmaster/Maildir";

while [ 1 ] ; do
    mv $dir/new $dir/report
    mkdir $dir/new
    chown vpopmail:vchkpw $dir/new
    chmod 0700 $dir/new

    razor-report -f -home=/home/vpopmail/.razor/ $dir/report/*
    rm -r $dir/report
done

unix41> ./go
spam-report.sh: line 13: /usr/local/bin/razor-report: Argument list too long

Any other ideas ?

classic solution:
find $dir/report | xargs razor-report -f -home=/home/vpopmail/.razor/

(with args to find as desired... -type f, -depth 1, etc.)

that would work, except that as i pointed out in my original post, my
machine cant keep up with spawning razor-report for every single
message. The volume of incoming spam is quite high, and razor-report
doesnt run fast enough to process each message as it comes in.

I might end up writing some code that opendir's the directory and does
everything internally. I was hoping that something like that already
existed, though.

Thanks,

Quick question, if you don't mind my interjection... What criteria are you using
for deciding to feed mail to razor-report that generates such a high volume?

In general, auto-reporting is discouraged, except for carefully maintained
spamtraps.

Things like auto-reporting everything detected as spam by spamassassin,
bogofilter, or any other spam-detector tool is in general a bad idea, and
directly discouraged in the razor FAQ.
