New user need advise

Dear All,

I just installed simscan but not work yet.

Linux OpenSuSe 11.1 (Kernel 2.6.30.5)
ClamAV 0.92

My ClamAV (clamd / clamscan) is able to scan files. Below my clamd.conf:

LocalSocket /tmp/clamd
FixStaleSocket yes
MaxThreads 30
MaxDirectoryRecursion 20
User root
AllowSupplementaryGroups yes
Foreground yes
ScanMail yes
PhishingSignatures yes

The symptom of error,

if I put in /var/qmail/supervise/qmail-smpt/run

QMAILQUEUE="/var/qmail/bin/simscan"
export QMAILQUEUE

Email was sent but lost in somewhere that I don't know. If I re-mark lines
above, email goes normal.

Need advises. your answer is very appreciated and waited for.

What do your qmail smtpd logs show? What happens when you enable simscan debugging? We need more information in order to provide an informed answer.

Yes, without more detail info you will unable help me.

1. Do you mean 4 files in /var/qmail/supervise/qmail-smtpd/log/supervise?

2. Would you assist me how to enable the simscan debugging?

Thx & Rgds,

Re: New user need advise

Google qmail wiki and simscan. Sorry, I'm writing from my blackberry and don't have the exact address, but there is a detailed set of articles on debugging simscan. Most likely this is a user mismatch problem. It's been a while since I've setup simscan, but I think simscan and clamav should run as the same user, however the documentation that comes with simscan should steer you correctly.

If you're still having problems, please post the debug output from setting SIMSCAN_DEBUG=2 (details on the qmail wiki article about simscan...) In your qmail-smtpd run file (or tcp.smtp..whichever method of invocation you're using).

Re: New user need advise

All,

I think I get the source problem of mine. I state the clamd directory for
option --enable-clamdscan, not the clamscan directory.

Now, after I put clamdscan directory simscan ask clamavdb-path. I state the
directory of main.cld & daily cld, but simscan configuration was still
unable find clamavdb-path. Below the error

configure: error: Unable to find your clamav databases,
specify --enable-clamavdb-path.

Need your advise / sharing about clamavdb-path.

Thanks a lot !

Re: New user need advise

Tren,

Finally, it works. But I am pretty surprise that Simscan only support old version of ClamAV.

My problem was because of I used version 0.95.2. After downgrade to version 0.92.1, it works as expected.

Do you have idea for this issue?

Thx & Rgds,

Wong

Unless you've installed clamav to a non standard path, it will automatically try the most common paths. As I said, please provide the debug output to help see what simscan is doing.

Hi Tren,

I (HOPEFULLY) start to get closer to the right way out. I mistakenly give simscan the directory of CLAMD, not CLAMDSCAN directory.

But now, simscan configuration ask clamavdb-path that makes me confuse. It gave me error "configure: error: Unable to find your clamav databases, specify --enable-clamavdb-path." when I state directory of main.cld & daily.cld.

Do you have experience about it?

Thanks Tren.
