You were fiddling around with a new mail server on your production
machine without testing it first? Furrfu. Consider using a spare desktop
machine to set up, configure, and learn about qmail before dropping it
into production in your office. You'll save everyone a lot of pain when
you deploy your shiny, new qmail installation AFTER you learn how to use
it.

50k emails per week is not an amount that should cause you any problems
whatsoever on the machine you describe, even if you are running MS
Exchange.

RE: Configuration problem or bug?

I've tried searching for the answer with Google and the search engine
located at:
http://www-archive.ornl.gov:8000/

Three threads related to this which I found there:
http://www.ornl.gov/lists/mailing-lists/qmail/1999/03/msg00844.html
http://www.ornl.gov/lists/mailing-lists/qmail/2001/01/msg00226.html
http://www.ornl.gov/lists/mailing-lists/qmail/1997/07/msg00957.html

These threads aren't any help to me. For example, I have no idea how to add
such a filter, if a filter could even be a solution the problem. I made sure
another time, emails look perfect with Telnet but only in these named MS
clients they show up with extra lines.

If anyone could tell me to try something specific, I'm all ear.

This is pure marketing speak put in for one reason. Some dorky
management types will ask if the software can do it. The commercial
options claim these things and those companies have convinced non-geek
folks that they can do it.

I gave up fighting with ceo/sales/marketing about web logs. I tried to
explain to them that with all the caches in the world, people who
refresh madly and people who connect at home and work, you can never get
real numbers. From what I can tell, these folks want to put their hands
over their ears when you say that and scream LA-LA-LA and present those
numbers to the world as if they were accurate.

However, FWIW, I use awstats and have been very happy with its best
guess numbers. I have not used it for qmail as I don't really have a
need for that type of information about email.

Related to Qmail

Hello,
-

I am facing problem with SquirrelMail , although hosts can send email
using a web form, but when I try to send email using SquirrelMail, I
am getting error of ¨The host is not in my RCPTHOSTs list¨or alike.

I know very well about htis error, but this time I could not understand
that why I am getting this errror using a webmail service, other webmail
programmes work normally,

Or if someone has idea of any other webmail service which would work
better .

What SMTP server are you using?
The IP of your webserver must be set to relay in the SMTP server you choose.
Did you set this in the config script from the shell?

I prefer SquirrelMail, so no there isn't a better one IMHO.

If maphia.de is considered as local domain not virtual domain, then
remove ALL maphia.de entry in virtualdomains file. And also make sure
user patrick is exist.

When I am using locally "qmail-inject" am getting no error:
Dec 1 11:57:06 webserver qmail: 1070276226.337097 new msg 48943
Dec 1 11:57:06 webserver qmail: 1070276226.337185 info msg 48943: bytes 253 from

Dec 1 11:57:06 webserver qmail: 1070276226.364599 end msg 48943

vpopmail alias problem

Hello there!

I have multiple virtual domains using qm1.03, vpop 5.3.30 with mysql.

I have different users on domain <at> virtual.de using

vuser1 <at> virtual.de
vuser2 <at> virtual.de
...
etcpp

now everyone wants to use his name as alias for those addresses using

1stname.name <at> virtual.de

so i did a

~vpopmail/bin/valias -i 1stname.name <at> virtual.de vuser1 <at> virtual.de

i have created a
# cat > .qmail-1stname:name
| /home/vpopmail/bin/vdelivermail '' vuser1

when i send a mail to 1stname.name <at> virtual.de, i get an answer like:

Hi. This is the qmail-send program at box.virtualhost.de.
I'm afraid I wasn't able to deliver your message to the following addresses.
This is a permanent error; I've given up. Sorry it didn't work out.

<vuser1 <at> virtual.de-1stname.name <at> virtual.de>:

If you know the domain you want to use a single connection to you
can fake it with a virtualdomain delivering to a Maildir and a
cron job running serialmail connecting to the remote mail server.

Rick.
