Hi Doug,

sorry for letting this one slip through the cracks for the past week or so.
Nothing jumps out as being obvious there.
I will try and set up an Open Solaris environment and reproduce the
problem.

I'm not familiar with purify, but I suspect it might be able to shed some
light on this problem. If you happen to have a copy would you mind seeing
if it sheds any light on the problem?

Perdition fails to parse nis map

Hi there,

I just found a bug in latest perdition version in the nis backend. The
syscal ypmatch is used with the wrong args. I just posted a bug to
debian with a patch to fix this issue.

Here it is so, if you aggree, please merge it and we can have nis
support back !

thanks,

Christophe

Noted.

I have pushed your patch into the development tree and
it should appear in 1.19-rc4. I will also do something
about the Debian bug.

Hi,

I'm not aware of any issues reported here or elsewhere,
but I also don't have any first hand experience of that combination.

It should work fine, I used the combination for several years in a quite
busy environment (up to thousands of simultaneous sessions) without any
problems.

Best regards,

We've been using this combination for years, too, on four webmail systems,
each having over a thousand simultaneous connects.

That's what we're running now for our webmail service and there are no
issues that we've encountered.

[ANNOUNCE] perdition 1.19-rc4

Hi,

I'm happy to announce the release of perdition 1.19-rc4

Key changes:
* Fix parsing of NIS maps
* Fix a segmentation fault on start-up when the bind_address configuration
  option is used.
* Fix handling of the debug and quiet options when specified a configuration
  file
* Building without PAM libraries installed
* Documentation enhancements

A full change log is provided by the Mercurial repository
http://hg.vergenet.net/perdition/perdition/

Perdition 1.19-rc3 and the vanessa libraries that it depends on
are available from:
http://horms.net/linux/perdition/download/1.19-rc4/

Debian unstable packages have been uploaded to Debian.Org
and should be available in the Debian archive within 24 hours.
http://packages.debian.org/source/unstable/perdition

I will endeavour to get these new packages included in
testing and thus the up-coming Squeeze release.

Packages for various RPM based distributions are being built by the SUSE
build service and should be available shortly from
http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/horms:/perdition/
