Hi Bill,

how far have you come with the manual yet? ... :-) It's just that I am
VERY curious ... :-)

Thanks for your interest, Ray!

It's hard to say. Thirty days ago, I thought I had 30 days left, but now
that I'm here, it still looks like at least 30 more days :-(. But, it's
moving along, and I'm committed to finishing it this time around. Soon!

I'm definitely going to send it out to mh-e-users for public review
before the release, so keep your eyes open for it.

One thing I hope you'll enjoy is that I'm syncing the online help
(docstrings) with the manual as well so that they'll be better too.

Done.

Done. Hidden in that last massive check-in!

See, I think this program is such a wonderful tool even if it doesn't
everything that I want it to do - but I believe the latter is due to a
lack of knowledge on my side and that I therefor want to know more about
it's features ... :-)

But take your time - a good manual is way better than a quick one with
lacks :-)

Bill Wohler: Use of "optional argument" in docstring

Hey gang,

I just sent the following to emacs-devel. In case there isn't a
definitive outcome, please let me know if you have an opinion about the
points I raise in the letter. I'm happy to go with the consensus (so it
is as important to let me know if you agree as well as if you disagree),
but I want to be consistent in any case. Since I'm updating most of the
docstrings during this manual update, now is the time...

Is there a convention regarding the use of explicitly using the word
"optional" when describing an optional argument in the docstring?

For example:

  (log arg &optional base)

Return the natural logarithm of ARG.
If second optional argument BASE is given, return log arg using that base.

how to reply with mh-e when using gnus

I use GNUS to read mailing lists from www.gmane.org.

When I reply privately, I wind up using GNUS rather than mh-e.
While I realize that a large subset is the same, I'd rather use mh-e, and
having my normal +outgoing, etc. Any clue how to make this happen?

Also, I've noticed that my highlight-to-click-on-link stuff is broken with
mh-e. I don't have a clue what I broke. I notice it still works with GNUS,
and still does what I want (xterm -e lynx&).

Done. Those of you following CVS MH-E will have to edit these options in
your custom-set-variables stanza.

Done. If you have customized mh-letter-insert-signature-hook, don't
forget to drop the -letter the next time you grab CVS MH-E.

If my suggestions work for you, Stephen, please go for it.
