[mew-int 2294] pop/smtp password not memorised by mew

hi!

i have a troubleshooting question. i have the below three lines set in
my ~/mew.el file (per manual), but still mew won't memorise me
passwords and i have to give them each time i receive/send mails.

what now?

(setq mew-pop-auth 'pass)
(setq mew-use-cached-passwd t)
(setq mew-use-master-passwd t)

thx,

maxigas

I think you are using Mew 4.1 which does not implement the feature of
master password.

Please upgrade to Mew 5.2.

I have question regarding master password:
Is it possible to save password once and use it all the time?
I would like to avoid typing pass everytime I start mew...

Best regards

[mew-int 2299] mew hang

hi!

i am using mew 5.2 with emacs 22 (via fink) on Mac OS X on the
Terminal.app in bash.

emacs hung with the following error:

emacs22(4256) malloc: *** error for object 0x554000: Can't
deallocate_pages region
emacs22(4256) malloc: *** set a breakpoint in szone_error to debug

after that, mew downloaded all the mail _again_ that i had on the
server on my POP3 account. :o

moreover, there are some folders which are empty (after mew says
Scanning...), even though i have refiled messages to them and on the
disk i see the folders and the messages as well as files (in
~/Mail/folder/1, etc.).

now what? :o

thx,

a perplexed maxigas

Hello,

First of all, Mew 5.2 can run well with Emacs 22.1 on MacOS.

This is a problem of Emacs, not that of Mew, I guess.

I guess you did not install the 'mewl' command in /usr/local/bin.

[mew-int 2302] Re: mew hang

hi!

i have emacs 22.1 and mew 5.2, so that's ok.

if i type mewl on the command line i get a lot of messages, so i guess
it's installed. but if not, how do i do that?

thanks,

maxigas

[mew-int 2303] Re: mew hang

hi!

so mewl command works. on "which mewl" it said /sw/bin/mewl but then i
copied it to /usr/local/bin and it still doesn't work... :o
