[mew-dist 22176] Mew 3.1 release candidate 1

Hello all,

I have released Mew 3.1 release candidate 1, which will be Mew 3.1
very soon. It is available from:
	ftp://ftp.mew.org/pub/Mew/beta/mew-3.1rc1.tar.gz

It would be highly appreciated if you kindly test this version and
give us feedback before the release of Mew 3.1

[mew-int 01140] Mew 3.1 rc1

Hi,

I have downloaded the release candidate 1. For the moment it works
well (it seems to be faster than the 3.0.70 I used before, is it
only an impression ?), but there is a very little thing (it appears
too on the 3.0.70 but I dont know for older version) : when I launch
Mew, I put the password, Mew retrieve messages. At this moment the
mouse pointer is represented as a watch and doesn't disappear until
I push any key. This very very little problem doesn't appear when
Mew is already launch, pushing the "i" key. An idea ?

So far it works like a breeze... I have a little question BTW -- is
it possible that Mew completes the newsgroups (g - TAB) ? I seem to
remember it was not yet done but maybe, once some newsgroups exist in
/home/≤user>/Mail/.nntp/ <at> <news>%nntp/, one could use them (before
something more sophisticated is done). Or maybe I overlooked the doc.?

Hi,

From [mew-int 00783 :

" Typing C-u 2 Z collects a list of newsgroups. So, you can complete a
newsgroup name when typing "g"."

I do not really want it. I tried but the binhex program failed to
unpack the file anyway... What Mew could do however may be to give
some instructions to the user (BinHex are not so common so we are
likely to forget :-).

[mew-int 01144] Mew version 3.1rc1: Attachments

Hi,

I got a small problem with Mew version 3.1rc1. When I make an
attachment and then try to read it back, I got the message

MIME decoding error: No last boundary for Multipart/Mixed

It is due to a lack of newline before the last boundary (which is then
at the end of the last line of the attachment). This seems to happen
when the file type is not recognized like for example *.dvi (please
add it if possible) and *.gnumeric. To demonstrate this, I attached
a file Hello.dvi.

Cheers,
ChriS

P.S. I am very happy to be able to read news with Mew! Is it planned
to add a subscription mechanism (so as to have less newsgroups to
choose from for completion)?

In a funny way, the message received from the list is fine (corrected)
while the copy sent to me is not!?!!

If this is the case, this is not Mew's problem but Emacs's problem.
The shape of pointer is controlled by Emacs, not by Mew.

The MIME spec says that newline is necessary before the last boundary.
Without this, multipart cannot be analyzed by theory. Of course, Mew
cannot analyze such a broken message.

Note that Mew never ever produces such a broken message.
