no warning when move fails

Due to a password expiration,
my effort to copy/move messages to
an IMAP folder failed.

It failed silently.

As a result I was not aware that the
folder did not contain these messages
until I actually visited. This could
have been a disaster, but fortunately
was not.

Request: copy and move should warn upon failure.

Cheers,
Alan Isaac

I can't reproduce this bug: if I change the login credentials for one of
the folders and then try to move a message to it, I get an error about
failed login.

AGI> Request: copy and move should warn upon failure.

Definitely, but the trouble is that it's already supposed to. Please try
to give more details about how to reproduce this.

 Thanks,
VZ

I have an IMAP account, and your message arrived in
my 'Inbox' folder. I also have a 'hold' folder there.
Left clicking on the 'hold' folder I pick Properties.
I chang the password on the 'hold' folder to 'test'.
I try to move your message to the 'hold' folder:
your message is highlighted in the message pane,
so I press 'm', select the 'hold' folder, and press the spacebar.
For a moment I see an hourglass as the move is attempted.
Then the hourglass goes away. Nothing else happens.
No warning.
I change the password back, and try the move:
it takes place normally.

fwiw,
Alan

Basically the problem is just one of adding the right words to the
index... I should really try to do it for the next release though.

extension as application hint

It would be really nice, when I right click on an attachment
and pick "Open With", if the application I last used to open
a file with the same extension were offered as the default
choice, rather than simply the last application I picked to
open any attachment.

"Python Dynamic library couldn't be found"

Hi,
I installed M and received a message "Python Dynamic library couldn't be found",
so installed Python 2.4.2 into directory C:\Applications\Python\python_2.4.2

python.exe seems to run - gives me a shell window where I can look at help etc.,
though as yet I am not familiar with the langage.

Went to M : edit=>Preferences Python Path and set it to above directory
(or should it point to .../python.exe or .../pythonw.exe ?
set edit=>Preferences Startup Script to point to M's minit.py

Re-run M - same error message - re-boot, reinstall M (without uninstalling)
same error message.

Any ideas what I have done wrong ?
Otherwise M runs fine and accesses my mail on the server with no problems.
cheers,
    Beau Webber

Any suggestions re. modifying the Migrate module so as to copy to file just a sub-tree of the folder structure ?

I would like to regularly be able to obtain a sub-tree of my mail folder contents,

tree structure.

It looks as though a modified form of the Migrate module should do this
- can anyone offer me any advice as to how to go about doing this this ?

Compiling for cygwin - can precompiled wxWidgets be used ?

in build_win.txt I read, for compiling under cygwin :
g++ 3.x can not compile Mahogany currently, so I used g++ 2.95.3. As compilerversion should be the same when
compiling both wxWindows and Mahogany, we shoulduse g++ 2.95.3 for compiling wxWindows as well ...

I have only found gcc v.3.3.3-3 and v 3.4.4, but these fail to compile wxWidgets -
can I use the pre-compiled version, and do these compilers now go on to compile Mahogany ?
cheers,

I don't know why was this written but it could very well be out of date.
At least under Unix g++3 (and 4) has no problem compiling Mahogany. I think
you should try building it with g++3 and let us know if you encounter any
problems.

DBW> I have only found gcc v.3.3.3-3 and v 3.4.4, but these fail to compile

Hmm, stranger and stranger. I did use both to build wxWidgets myself. With
3.3 I had no problems at all. With 3.4 you need to disable precompiled
headers support because of gcc bug, so you may need to use
--disable-precomp-headers argument to configure. But otherwise they really
should both work.

 Good luck,
VZ

First of all, this is not a big problem if you don't intend to use Python.
But if you do (personally I use it for writing filters and also for some
hooks), then you need to make sure that python2x.dll (where 0 <= x <= 4)
is available.

DBW> Went to M : edit=>Preferences Python Path and set it to above directory
DBW> (or should it point to .../python.exe or .../pythonw.exe ?

Sorry, it looks this is not very clear from the dialog, but this option is
the path used to locate Python modules (the .py files). What you need is
the "Python DLL" option which should contain full path to python2x.dll if
it is not in your system PATH.

 Good luck,
VZ
