Perfect hint! This is right way: I've no wxConvUTF* in a library (no
wxConvUTF8 nor wxConvUTF7). On my second, Linux system, is compilation and
running of M ok, nm shows that libraries are with all these symbols
(OpenBSD and Linux compilations are from the same cvs-src bunch).

But, I'am still unable to put these wxConvUTF* to obsd library.
Unfortunately, floppy disk with wxWindows config.log from obsd machine
failed, and I haven't now it.

Nevermind: Are some important basic libraries, needed for wxWindows
compilation with wxConvUTF*, (and which are probably missing on my OpenBSD
machine)? [for my next inspiraiton]

 The only thing I can think of is that there is no wchar_t support under
OpenBSD (or not good enough). Please try the latest wxGTK sources from the
cvs, I've revamped the wchar_t detection code and now it might work better
(or worse, of course) than before.

You can check config.log and wx source - probably iconv is missing or not
detected?

mail folder management

I recently moved some mail folders to Mahogany as follows.
I created a subdirectory below my mahogany directory.
I moved all the mail files there.
I picked from Mahogany's menus: Folder/ImportFileFolders,
and I entered the new subdirectory in the resulting dialogue.

Problem 1:
all files in the subdirectory were automatically
"imported" as mail folders, with no dialogue allowing
me to choose among them.   I suggest the dialogue
should have a radio button defaulted to "import all"
with the alternative of "choose".

Problem 2:
in the folder view, if I pick 'Delete Folder' from the
context menu, I cannot delete any of the new folders.
(I can use 'Remove from tree', however it of course
does not physically delete the folder.) 
(Actually I just realize that I only tried deleting
folders that I emptied, so this might be a 0 byte problem?
But probably not, since "empty" MBX folders still have
the header info ...  I cannot check this now, but I'll
try to remember to do so.)

start up problem in Win2K

Okay back in NZ now so I can do the debugging. Here is the call stack that 
leads to the stack overflow at 0xC00000FD. I have omitted the parameters 
from the functions, but can provide if it is necessary. I get the overflow 
from the SendMessage in SetFont and I can't seem to track it further than 
that, but I am willing to take advice.

 I still have absolutely no idea. Let's do this: I've just built a new
binary snapshot of M for Win32 and uploaded it at the usual place
(link is also accessible from the download page of the main site):

 http://www.lpthe.jussieu.fr/~zeitlin/Mahogany/Win32/M-LATEST_d.zip

I've also put nearby the compressed PDB file containing the debug info:

 http://www.lpthe.jussieu.fr/~zeitlin/Mahogany/Win32/M.pdb.zip

Please unpack them both into the same directory and run M.exe under VC++
debugger -- and see what happens.

 But how would you choose? The idea is that you use this command to import
the mail folders which were put there by another program, and so it should
happen automatically, without any user intervention.

 IOW, I simply don't see any good GUI to allow to do what you want.

I probably do not understand the issues,
but here is how I thought it should work.

If I pick a folder for importing, then a dialogue would
open with two buttons:
i. import all
ii. choose

If you pick the second button, a file list from that
directory would be offered for adding to the tree.
