Exim Development meeting instead of Exim/mail Conference?

The Exim Conference as planned isn't viable.
Should we organize an "Exim Development / Futures" meeting instead?

(The meeting could also include a morning of short talks, rather than
full papers, so people can find out what others in the Exim community
are doing.)

We had planned the "E-Mail Systems Conference (Exim and other mail
systems)" for April 2008, in Birmingham, UK. However, there's very
little interest: 20 people say they might attend; 3-4 people offered
talks. With these numbers, a full conference isn't viable.

On 5-Dec-2007, David Restall posted to the Exim Users list, regarding
"The next Exim release - will there be one ?" That thread indicated
that people *do* want an assured future for Exim, but it wasn't very
clear how things would move forward. So a meeting -- for developers,
and interested users -- is a good idea.

For a one day meeting the costs are about UK Pounds 100.00 per person
(+VAT), including tea, coffee, and lunch, but not including
accommodation. If a lot of people are interested, the costs will be
less.

If you're interested, please let us know *immediately": we need to
book or cancel the venue in the next couple of days.

All exim-announce subscribers please note: you will need to contact
Niall directly using his email address:

Niall Mansfield <exim-a07 <at> uit.co.uk>

If you reply to the exim-announce messages without ensuring where the
reply goes, the moderation team will know who wants to go but Niall
won't - check the "Reply-To:" header.

Exim v4.69 release

Exim release 4.69 is now available from the primary ftp site:

    ftp://ftp.exim.org/pub/exim/exim4/exim-4.69.tar.gz
    ftp://ftp.exim.org/pub/exim/exim4/exim-4.69.tar.bz2

The release has actually been available since 20 Dec 2007, however
logistical problems prevented a formal announcement until now. The
released files and their signatures have not changed since the initial
distribution.

========================================================================

This release is a pure bug fix release (although there is also
preliminary DKIM support available if compiled with appropriate flags).
The documentation has been updated and regenerated.

The major change is an update to the embedded PCRE library in response
to security issues discovered within that library. We believe that these
security issues will be extremely difficult to exploit. Most (if not
all) distributions shipping exim already use their system PCRE library
rather than the Exim embedded version and so will be immune to these
issues (as long as their system libraries have been updated), and with
the next Exim release we intend to drop the embedded library forcing
everyone to use a system or their own maintained PCRE library.

As usual, all changes are in the doc/ChangeLog file.
