Administrivia - Exim list migration to new machine

The sharp eyed among you may have noticed that over the last 24 hours
things have been rearranged so that mail to exim.org and the website is
going to the Cambridge University open projects development machine -
sesame.csx.cam.ac.uk. This should have had minimal effect on
functionality (although its been good for me since we are now dropping
virus messages and spam before they hit the mail moderation interface).

The next stage is to migrate the lists themselves across. This will
happen over the weekend. I will as far as I can keep people's settings
(nomail, digest etc) intact, however the passwords will all be reset to
default ones generated by mailman. I will force a password reminder
message when the changeover has been completed.

Following the changeover, all exim list mail will use VERP This means
the sender address will look something like
  exim-user-bounces+nigel.metheringham=dev.intechnology.co.uk <at> exim.org

Those filtering on sender address will need to change their filters
appropriately.

The mailing list archives for exim-users will be taken across as is,
with no change to the URLs. New archives for the list will be under a
different URL. The other lists will be converted to the new archive
URLs [The intention is to keep old useful URLs stable, but the size of
the old archives is so large that they are hard to index and too
imposing to work through so a new start is useful]. I will add
searching pretty soon - the archives are set up for it.

Other things may flap a little during the changeover - I think rsync is
currently broken, but will attempt to fix it shortly.

Exim 4.42 release

I have just put Exim release 4.42 on the primary ftp site:

   ftp://ftp.csx.cam.ac.uk/pub/software/email/exim/exim4/exim-4.42.tar.gz
   ftp://ftp.csx.cam.ac.uk/pub/software/email/exim/exim4/exim-4.42.tar.bz2

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This release is mainly a maintenance release. However, the Sieve maintainer
sent me patches for some new Sieve features, and I've also included the lastest
version of exipick.

As usual, all changes are in the doc/ChangeLog file and new features are
described in the doc/NewStuff file. See also the README.UPDATING file for
changes that might impact on some installations. The manual has not been
updated for this release.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The primary ftp server is in Cambridge, England. There is a list of mirrors in:

   ftp://ftp.csx.cam.ac.uk/pub/software/email/exim/Mirrors

The distribution files are signed with Philip Hazel's GPG key; the signature
files are in the same directory. The MD5 hash codes for the distribution files
are:

b1b7b66f9713a777e92fd6650e6ba954 exim-4.42.tar.gz
eb6a06e70a78a03200b4e4aefbb7b0aa exim-4.42.tar.bz2

The distribution contains an ASCII copy of the 4.40 manual and other documents.
Other formats of the documentation are also available:

exiscan-acl-4.42-27

Now on:

http://duncanthrax.net/exiscan-acl/

Please do upgrade to this version if you use the "control =
header_pos_top" option introduced in version -25.

I'm including the -26 changelog as well, since I did not announce it yet:

---------------------------------------------------------------
27 - Changed algorithm of header_pos_middle to add headers
before the first header which is NOT Received: or
       Resent-*:.

26 - Fixed header corruption when using header_pos_top.
       (Thanks to Michael Deutschmann).

     - Fixed headers being added before any Received-SPF:
header when using header_pos_middle (Thanks to
       Michael Deutschmann).

     - DrWeb malware support: Add flag to treat .eml file
as plain mail (Thanks to Alex Miller).
