SSL and Treo VersaMail

I really need to ditch my self-assigned certificate and get a
commercially provided SSL certificate.

I am most concerned that I will pick a Certificate authority that won't
work with the SSL in VersaMail on the Treo.

Anybody using SSL IMAP and SMTP on the Treo handhelds?

Thanks!

Did you ever change the primary domain name? Or created some accounts
before the server was named according to license keys?
The problem may be that there are records with the hostServer
attribute referring to the old primary domai name and now Cgpro refuses
to delete those records. You need to press delete All again and then
navigate to WebAdmin -> Directory -> Browser -> (the following assumes
the default directory integration settings) cn=domain.name -> and
delete the remaining records manually - by clicking on their RDNs and
then using the Delete Record button.

After that Insert All should not give any errors.

LDAP: List aliases

Dear All,

Is it possible to retrieve the list of account aliases from CGP?
Or, more simply, verify if username is valid mailbox, or alias, or forwarder, or group?

With CLI, yes. See www.stalker.com/CGPerl

To verify an account, use the Route command. That's probably the easiest
method given something that might be an account, alias, group or
forwarder. If you use directory integration on your domains, another
possibility would be LDAP, though I'm not sure if groups or lists are
stored in LDAP for keep-in-sync. Anyway, the Route command will give you
enough information to be able to tell the difference between the types.

Re: SPF

DNS is configured for SPF for outgoing messages.

SMTP is configured to check SPF for incoming messages.

As Jon Mentioned, you are using a beta version of the server, and you
are likely to run into bugs like the one you describe using one of
those versions. We are using Windows messenger 5.0 and 5.1 with CGP
5.0.x and all is working magnificently here in or office (~50 users)

R: CGP vs. Exchange

Da: Thomas Klein [mailto:Thomas.Klein <at> SkyNetworks.de]
Inviato: giovedì 31 agosto 2006 18.29
Oggetto: CGP vs. Exchange

Hi there,

Ciao Thomas,

I have to do a workout for a customer of us. First time, I’m sorry for my bad English.

At the moment, they are using Samsung Contact. The general manager wants to use a new groupware.

The decision is between CGP and MS Exchange. I know, that there is MUCH difference between this two products in pricing. There are round about 50 users that have to be licensed.

My mission is to compare these two messaging systems in the most important functions from the technical side, and not to pay attention on the pricing of the product, this decision is at the general manager.

At this time we are using Samsung contact with a MAPI-client in alliance with Outlook XP (2002). The MAPI Client of Samsung Contact is REALLY UGLY, I think it is a really bad thing (there were many times, I would burn it into hell). Because of this bad experience, I am interested in the reliability of the MAPI Client of CGP. Is the Client a stable working software? I read some postings on this forum (postings were 1 year ago), some persons reported about some problems, it took up to some minutes to simply change to another folder in the mailbox. I think that is a case MAY NOT happen in any case. Is this problem in newer versions of the MAPI-client of CGP fixed, or is this problem still existing?

MAPI is pretty stable now, we are running CGPRO 5.0.9 with MAPI

1.1.3.6  Outlook 2003 SP2 and works really fine.

Some users have Mail-Accounts up to 5 GB. Is this a Problem on CGP?

The biggest is the INBOX the slowest is the use (speccially with Outlook) but think there is no limitation on the accout, may be on each folder dimensions.

Otherwise, it would be important that the new groupware supports public folders, with the function that some public folders have their own Email-Adresses to get some Emails directly routed into this folders. Also a stable free/busy function is necessary.

both are present and used.

I think the most important case will be, that the MAPI-Client of CGP is working stable together with Outlook. The users will definitely kick me (even the general manager) if I say “buy Exchange” or “buy CGP”, and the Clients are quietly slow and unstable.

The best think to do is testing CG using the eval version downloadable by the stalker website.

I’m also interested, if someone has a comparison if CGP is working more stable than Exchange or not.

Thanks & Regards

Thomas Klein

Bye

Massimo

Connections not closing

I am running version 4.1.8 of Communigate Pro on Windows 2000.  I am having problems with a university that is claiming that our sessions aren't timing out.  Basically they are staying open all time time.  I currently have 8 messages waiting to go and they claim to have over 150 connections open.   It seems to me like they are somehow blocking the messages before they can complete.  The messages seem to hang at around 90% for about 5 minutes then go back into the smtp waiting queue and then try again later.  Each time it tries, it goes to 90% and then hangs for 5 minutes then goes back to the queue.  Rinse, lather, repeat.

The university's response is I have a problem, I need to fix it, and if I don't, they will deny access from my mail server forever.

I have checked the queue (both through the management web page and directly on the server) and there seem to be no other messages than the 8 waiting to go.  I have also checked the logs and the only message I see is:

23:31:29.37 3 SMTP-00045(uwsp.edu) read failed. Error Code=read time-out
-------
All they have ever sent me is a list of open connections:

User From Connected Time
powerweb.net 64.118.165776 seconds
powerweb.net 64.118. 164576 seconds

powerweb.net 64.118. 151360 seconds
powerweb.net 64.118. 150159 seconds

ad nauseum......

I have done a netstat on the server and it does show some connections open (but not 150) and now that I have rebooted and tried to resend the messages (which have failed), I have no open connections to them.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
