Manually set status to Replied?

Hi,

Is there a way to manually set the status of a message to
"Replied" or "Forwarded"? I noticed that the Replied status is
not saved if you mark the message as unread and then as read
again.

This is not within the scope of Becky as an email client and will depend
on the type of email server software you're using.

> and set up the LDAP addreessbook in Becky to use it ?

Again, this will depend on what type of LDAP server you're connecting to.
I've made Becky work with three different LDAP servers so when you get
to that point, I can offer suggestions and help.

<rant>LDAP has to be one of the most cryptic and confusing daemons I
have ever set up. Gah...what a pain in the butt. Even now, when I help
co-workers set up LDAP address books, I'm amazed at how non-intuitive
everything is. Search strings, BaseDNs, etc, etc.</rant>

Looks like a bug. You should mail Carty about it.

What happens on a folder reconstruct index after returning to read state?

I think the bug is marking an already replied to message unread and then
expecting it to be as it was when you change it to read again. You don't
expect it to be unread and replied to do you?
What should it do if you choose to reply to it in that new unread state,
show two replies?
Do we want it to disallow marking unread when it has been replied to?

Should Becky really be changed to handle this un-natural problem and how
should it handle all of the above and other situations? I think it is
fine as it is..... personally I would be happy if Becky would not allow
changing the read state once replied to! Logically I don't think unread
and replied should exist together on a message.

I don't think we can expect a program to be written to handle unusual
choices like this....... by all means it should allow marking unread,
though I can't think why I would want to do that to one that I have

I have never noticed this, but I would also said it is a bug.

What I do not get is what does "read" and "replied" have in common...
why should setting one change the other?

To me, they clearly seem like independent things.

Never.... if the quick reply is necessary then I would think replying to
the content would also be necessary, so I read it and take the time to
reply fully. What is the point of replying without reading the last half
of the message, there might be something key there!
The extra time to do that has got to be minimal....

Only situation I can think about is sending a quick reply saying I'll
get back to you with a complete answer next week... then I would mark it
unread and I would want it to look as though I had not replied. So Becky
works correctly for me.
Though to be fair I do one more step and that is to move the mail to a
pending folder or just create another reply and leave it in draft (my
preference).

Syncronize files

I am running two copies of Becky - one on a desktop and one on a
laptop.
I would like to have certain files (address book, sent file, personal
files etc.) have the same content on each machine.
Assuming I have no capability to network the two machines (and I am
mot an advanced guru) how (or could) I accomplish this.
I do have a USB data stick .

Regards.
Ken.

Re: Syncronize files

I've never used it, but there is a Sync to Portable device option under
File menu.

I've tried syncing with a sync program (in my case, Beyond Compare) but
the indexes get messed up and have to be re-created.
