survey: attaching files / Ctrl-Break

Hi,

2 things are bothering Becky-users for a long time, that's why I want
to know your opinion.

1. When you attach files to a mail, do you ever use something else
than "BASE64" and "MIME"? For the people I know, the dialog box is
superfluous, nobody here needs the other options. When they are needed
after all, wouldn't it be better to move them to "General Setup"
instead of asking this every time?

2. When a mailserver is not reachable (*) or you want to stop the
current session and click on the "Becky" envelope in the upper right:
"The active session will be aborted. Is it OK? ..."
When clicking "Yes" (or CTRL-Break), it always takes several seconds
until Becky is ready again.
I would expect, that the action is stopped immediately after clicking
"Yes" or hitting Ctrl-Break. What's your opinion?

(*) Who doesn't know this message, can test it with temporary setting the
mailserver name to "testname" and try to connect.

Regards

copy of sent messages

Hi,

does somebody know a possibility to avoid saving sent messages for one
mailbox? I think, there is such an option but I can't find it.

Reason: Hotmail/Outlook.com saves (in certain accounts?) sent messages
2x: 1x with message-id "* <at> <fullhost>" and 1x with "* <at> phx.gbl". :-(

The last one is delivered to the recipient. It seems, this behaviour
can't be changed, so it would be nice, if Becky could disable its copy.

(It's possible to define a local sent folder, but this is not wanted.)

Group mail addresses

Hello:

As my wife claims that a group with certain names does not work, because,
she says, old names of the group are being inserted in emails, I want to
check it.

As you know, when I create a message, the To address for the group is
shown as " <at> "[Address book name]:[foldername]/[gruop name]". Is there any
way to look at the actuall addresses in the To field (without going to
the group in the addressbook)?

Thank you!

: Message View pane Question

Hello Group,

Sorry if asked before. New user and I'm coming from Thunderbird and
would like to know if there is a way to eliminate the Message View pane
and when selecting a message from the list, have it open is new window?
I don't much care for the three pane layout and want to read the message
information in the list before it is automatically opened into a pane. .

Thanks,
Rob

Loss of Mail Query

My Becky has suddenly lost the Mail Query function.

Selecting Mail Query from the Edit menu (or pressing Ctrl+H) does nothing
but add the Query Result folder to the Tree View column. The usual Mail
Query dialog does not appear.

Similarly Choosing Headlines Search from the Edit Menu (or pressing F12) does
nothing.

Neither restarting Becky nor rebooting the machine nor reinstalling
Becky do any good

Can any of you suggest a solution?

Ciao,
Bill

Becky hangs while composing message (IMAP)

I am wondering if this happens to me only. Often, while composing a message with Becky (while connected to the server) it hangs (I see the small spinning circle in Win 7) and won't let me continue typing. Sometimes after a while Becky resumes the normal condition but some other times I have to terminated with Ctrl-Alt-Del. Am I perhaps missing an important setting? Becky is not set to check mail automatically.

Since I see almos t no complains here about Becky with IMAP accounts, I am starting to think that I may have something weird in my OS, or at least I should try to do a clean install of the program after clearing all registry entries.

Becky + Wine (Linux)

Hey!

How many of you are using Becky inside Linux?
I think Jacques mentions in his signature using it like that.

Any problems? Migration easy? File system ok? Speed ok? PlugIns work? No
mails lost? SSL ok?
The Wine page says something about SSL not available:
https://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=2730&iTestingId=15870

I am using Becky for 15 years now, I want to continue using it, but I'm
afraid of butchering my mailboxes. Not immediately, then I would have
backups. But after a couple of months, you know what I mean :)

Greetings
Peter
