Toolbar size

Hi,

in version 2.66, the size of the toolbar icon space can be increased.
With the standard Becky! iconset the appearance depends on the
operating system.
Windows XP - icons in original (small) size, aligned to the top
Windows 7 - icons in original size, centered
The space around the icons is always empty.

Do you know, how it looks in Windows 8(.1)? Does it increase the icons,
too? Or howto increase the original Becky!-icons? I downloaded several
iconsets, but they differ too much from the original and tried
"makeb2icon-0.6.zip", but this seems outdated (and too complicated).

Port 465 or 587?

I read this (among other things) on the Web:

"Historically, port 465 was initially planned for the SMTPS encryption
and authentication “wrapper” over SMTP, but it was quickly deprecated
(within months, and over 15 years ago) in favor of STARTTLS over SMTP
(RFC 3207). Despite that fact, there are probably many servers that
support the deprecated protocol wrapper, primarily to support older
clients that implemented SMTPS. Unless you need to support such older
clients, SMTPS and its use on port 465 should remain nothing more than
an historical footnote.

"The hopelessly confusing and imprecise term, SSL, has often been used
to indicate the SMTPS wrapper and TLS to indicate the STARTTLS protocol
extension."

Does Becky support STARTTLS/587?

I have used 465 and my email host (Lunarpages) SMTP server, but now and
then have a problems by ip address 74.50.18.10 (Lunarpages) being
blocked by Spamhaus, and consequently by Yahoo and sbcglobal. I have
Dynamic IP. I can't figure out from what I read on the Web whether I
should or should not be blocked (but I am, but not 100 %; go figure).

Does anyone know about this? I'm learning, but slooooowly.

Becky 2.66 in German

Hi,

Becky 2.66 [de] is available here:
http://beckymail.cwsurf.de

Like before, it is a CAB/INF-based (MS-Standard) install.
In addition to the English version, it has improved .provider files
and some corrected dialog fields. (e.g. "touch friendly mode")

Enjoy!

When you like it, you can use the guestbook. When you find bugs please
e-mail.

auto-open folders?

Hi! When I used Eudora, a function which I took advantage of is that
when new mail came in, the program could auto-open folders if they were
sorted to it by incoming mail filters. Does Becky! have such a feature?
If so, how do I access it?

Various problems with an IMAP account

It's several months now that I switched from POP to IMAP and while I am generally very satisfied with this switch itself I cannot say to be satisfied with how Becky behaves. In my case it has always been the perfect POP mail client, but with an IMAP account it is a bit of a disaster. In other words, it freezes rather often even while It is just opened and I am doing nothing, or i freezes while downloading messages. It also freezes (always) when I select the Sent folder (it does not do so in another PC with the same Becky version and the same settings). Sometimes I cannot even use Ctrl-Alt-Del to close it. Before changing to Thunderbird ar ms, which I would not like although it always comes to rescue when Becky has a problem, I want to try other solutions.

For example, might my Becky data file be corrupted? How would I know this? If it were, what should I do? If I am not mistaken, time ago I read somewhere that one possible solution could be creating an entirely new data folder and copying the old data into it. Might this be a really viable fix to try?

Thanks

Mario Cerutti

filtering, automatic?

what does that mean, other than the other 2 choices, though I presume
that manual means you filter that particular with the command from
within the menu and it will not respond from incoming messages or
outgoing messages.
Thanks!

Sorting

Since we are talking about the improvements Carty has done in the latest
version of Becky, and while I am very glad to hear it, let me express
one other wish: sorting of sent messages, in with the received messages, in
a folder where you have both.

Hans L

Chaging font size for Main Window Panes

Hi all

I am wanting to change the fiont size for the different main window
panes but the option under view/change font only seems to change the
message view. I want to change the font size for the List view and the
Tree View. Please help.

Note I don't want to change the font that it prints out in as I note
when I changed the font size in the Message View it changed the print
font. I am finding the print on screen is too small.
