Another bug report for xemacs, ilisp, and sbcl.

I did commit changes to the CVS repository today to fix the sit-for
bug with xemacs.

Problem with (READTABLE-CASE *READTABLE*)

Hello,

When setting (READTABLE-CASE *READTABLE*) to :PRESERVE in clisp,
there's not problem:

[pascal <at> thalassa tmp]$ clisp -q
;; Loading file /home/pascal/.clisprc.lisp ...
;; Loaded file /home/pascal/.clisprc.lisp
[1]> (SETF (READTABLE-CASE *READTABLE*) :PRESERVE)
:PRESERVE
[2]> (FORMAT T "Hello World!~%")
Hello World!
NIL
[3]> (BYE)
[pascal <at> thalassa tmp]$

But doing the same in clisp under ilisp:

Starting /usr/local/bin/clisp -m 32MB -ansi -K full -I ...
  i i i i i i i ooooo o ooooooo ooooo ooooo
  I I I I I I I 8 8 8 8 8 o 8 8
  I \ `+' / I 8 8 8 8 8 8
   \ `-+-' / 8 8 8 ooooo 8oooo
    `-__|__-' 8 8 8 8 8
        | 8 o 8 8 o 8 8

Re: Important: ILISP License Change Questionnaire

Apologies for the duplicate, but I haven't received any reply yet, and I
need this information in order to answer all of Kevin's questions.

What are the practical implications of this for ILISP developers? I guess
the copyright information in source files would be changed.

But I wonder whether the project should be required to use FSF facilities,
such as CVS repositories, and follow their coding conventions/policies.

Paolo, I think the issue will be moot. I've received 24 replies which
is less than half of all of the people that I've identified who *may*
have authored code. From http://www.gnu.org/licenses/why-assign.html:
"...FSF requires that each author of code incorporated in FSF projects
provide a copyright assignment..."

It's a good question. I haven't found that this is required, only that
by assigning copyrights the project becomes a "FSF project".

However, copyright assignment appears unobtainable at this time.

Sorry about the previously forwarded bug report. This bug appears to
be due to missing files on the reporter's file system, not due to any
bug in ilisp.

ILISP Questionnaire Results

Dear ILISP Developers,

I've compiled the ILISP developer questionnaire results. In the
questionnaire distributed on November 20 2002, I asked 5 questions and
gave a time limit until December 20, 2002 to reply.

I've sent the questionnaire to over 113 email addresses representing
70 individuals who had been noted in a potential contributor. I
received replies from 29 individuals (41%). Of these 29 replies, here
are the number of objections:

1. Change the license to GPL: 1 (1.4%)
2. Assign copyrights to the FSF: 1 (1.4%)
3. Remove the clause from the current license: 0 (0%)

Given these results, I will remove the clause:
o No fees or compensation are charged for use, copies, or
access to this software. You may charge a nominal
distribution fee for the physical act of transferring a
copy, but you may not charge for the program itself.
from ILISP's license.

If a ILISP developer later replies that they object to the removal of this clause,
it will be necessary to restore this clause.

To all who replied, thanks for your time!
