I thought we got rid of that with the plugins.

Right you are.

Fwd: vdrconvert and add.sh

HI,

I have a problem with the add.sh from vdrconvert. The shell variable in bash
is only a long integer and now I have overruns when the script tries fo
calculate the shrinkfaktor for my DVDs. The total size of my movie is about
5.2
GB and this overflows the shell variable. My question now is what shell
should
I use with vdrconvert. The bash does not work for me.

This happens with all versions of vdrconvert.

If you are familiar with programming shell scripts, you can modify all
computations to use "bc" instead of the shell build-ins. Just an
example, how you can use it:

errror <at> bfs:~> size=1999999999999999
errror <at> bfs:~> current=4096
errror <at> bfs:~> echo "$size + $current" | bc
2000000000004095
errror <at> bfs:~> all=`echo "$size + $current" | bc`
errror <at> bfs:~> echo $all
2000000000004095

See the man-page for further details. bc is quiet complex!

I watched ARD yesterday at 22:00, but the problem still exists (at least
here)...
Let's see what's happening this evening.

Re: Problem solved: ARD choppy sound

hi folks,

i didn't read the ehole thread, so i don't know if this is the
right place to discribe my problem with ard.

it's easy to discribe: there is no audio at all.
but if i play a recording from ard there is the audio.
even in timeshifting.

does anybody know???

i use vdr 1.2.6pre4 with several plugins. but this problem
occurs since a few days (shorter than i use 1.2.6pre4).
so, yes, ard must have changed something.

bye,
klaus

same here yesterday evening. After switching to a MP2 channel (as I have
AC3overDVB installed) e.g. to SWR3 and back again, I got sound.
Unfortunately, after the problems were gone, they re-appeared here yesterday
evening.
I would be interested if the comment of the ARD is true and if the TI chip
indeed is faulty (as it is concerning AC3 output). The only thing I can tell
is that when using the streamdev plugin, I have a jumping picture on the
client, so IMHO this just can be a muxing problem on their side or a demuxing
problem on VDRs side.

With kind regards

Jörg

Hi,

it´s indeed a very cheap card, and I believed to have read here and on
vdrportal.de that this card works as a second card. Unfortunately, this does not
seem to be the case. There was also indeed a problem with the SS2 2.6b cards
as they use a different tuner, but as mine is an older card I believed it to
work without problems. Additionally, if you install the DVB drivers, the SS2
drivers are activated by default.

Questions about the subtitles-plugin

The subtitles show up and go away somewhat too fast,
it's hard to read the text. I tried changing the value
of the setting 'delay' to 10, and it maybe helped..
But maybe it changed something else, that's also possible.

How are subtitles recorded?

Ari

Feature Request: record the whole movie in timeshift mode

Hi,

it would be an useful feature to record until the end of the movie in
timeshift mode. This is the expected behaviour, and I was surprised that
the recording had stopped 10 minutes before the end of the movie ;-)
Yes, I know, I told VDR to do so and record only 120 minutes in this
mode.

I am running VDR 1.2.1, if it makes a difference.
