Re: Ethernet link loss - External MAC/PHY selection

Hi Tim,

Will probably be using a SMSC LAN...9115, or one in that family
(LAN9115-LAN9118). The LAN91C111 is being obsoleted, I've been told.

RE: Memec 3sMB1500 boot problems

David,

uClinux boots! I turned off caching by changing the following entries
in the MHS file:

PARAMETER C_USE_ICACHE = 0
PARAMETER C_USE_DCACHE = 0

This begs a further question as to why turning off caching on the
microblaze enabled uclinux to boot. Is there some config on the uclinux
side that I could have tweaked to also allow uClinux to boot.

Thanks again,
Vincent

RE: Ethernet link loss - External MAC/PHY selection

Jim,
How told you this. We are designing in the 91C111 and there was no
indication of it being obsoleted. SMSC as of today has not indicated the
status change.

Re: uClinux compile error on "make dep"

Thanks all,

for the replys that has helped me successfully compiled the uClinux
Kernel. However, during kernel boot-up, it appears that the output from my
kernel is different than the output from the kernel prepared by David Banas.
I've attached 2 txt files, CAPTURE.TXT is the output from my kernel during
boot, and CAPTURE2.TXT is the output from David Banas' kernel during boot.
The major difference seems to be the absence of the configuration of JFFS2
from my kernel. Thoughts?

Dave Lai

Re: Ethernet link loss - External MAC/PHY selection

Hi again,

My local NuHo sales type steered me away from it. I'll check with him again
and let you know his response.

Vincent,
Did you get it working using the .bin or the .elf? I am also having
problems with the Memec 3sMB1500 board and followed the same steps as
you but mine stops here.

Re: C++ output problems

Hi Joshua,

The short answer is that C++ is not fully supported by mb-gcc in
standalone mode, and not supported at all under mb-uClinux.

> The makefile I am using for both programs is as follows.

There are some C++ demo apps in the uClinux-dist - if you want to spend
time on this they would be a good place to start, since you can be
confident that their Makefiles are sensible etc.

I don't think there will be a huge amount of effort required to get this
going, it just needs someone to whom it is a vitally important
functionality! Maybe that's you?

As you've found, there are a few hits in the archives for C++, feel free
to ask if I can clarify any of my earlier messages or activities on the
subject.

Compiler hangs

Hello,

mb-gcc hangs when compiling the simple code bellow with optimization turned
on. Seems to be related to 64 bit variables. I open a webcase with Xilinx
but since uClinux uses "unsigned long long" variables and -01 optimization,
I was wondering if anyone else saw this problem. In a larger program, it
seems to be possible to make the code compile by juggling things around but
the resulting code is unstable and hangs. THis doesn't happen with
optimization turned off.

RE: Ethernet link loss - External MAC/PHY selection

Thanks Jim. I was dealing direct with SMSC. It does figure the customers
boards are on the bench and we are not going to respin for the 3rd time this
year.

Thanks again.
