[sentinix-list] SNMP

I'm new to Sentinix, but thats ok. I'm having trouble configuring a
new community name for snmp. I am not using the snmp daemon. (not
installed during setup) However I am still getting alerts through
snort that my Sentinix box is configured for the "public" community in
SNMP. I cannot find the snmp.conf file either. Anyone have any
   advice for a newbie?

[sentinix-list] How to remove a package without affect others

Hello all,

I am very new to this great distribution and I am wondering what kind of
package management system Sentinix is using? And how to remove a package
without affect others?

BTW, is there any site you can download packages for Sentinix?

If I want to create a smaller size cd, what are the minimum packages I
should keep there to compile from scratch?

Any advice will be highly appreciated!

[sentinix-list] Remote root access

Good morning,

I made a sentinix installation 3 days ago and have been using it since them
without any problems.. however, today I tried to remotely access the machine
via SSH and couldn't login. I changed the root password on the machine a
couple of times thinking somehow I was typing it wrong. still no success.
Does anyone know how to fix this minor issue?

Thank you

[sentinix-list] I guess I sent that last email out a hair too soon.

Well, snort works, but now Nagat & SNMPTools doesn't come up when you
click on them. Are they not finished for this build?

[sentinix-list] Re. A few questions from a new person to Sentinix

Hello again everyone,
I desided to run the other ISO that was available (sentinix-0.70.5.iso),
and Snort ran fine on that build.

So I am still wondering if there is a wiki site.

Also, if I should use something like Webmin to control the rest of the
webserver stuff for the httpd.conf (since I want to do some virtual hosts).

Also, how do I configure the mail server for users?
Thanks again,
Tom

[sentinix-list] A few questions from a new person to Sentinix

Hello everyone,
I just installed the sentinix.1.beta01.iso software, and almost
everything seems to run fine.

First question, is there a Wiki site that may already have answers to
some of these questions?

SnortCenter v1.0 states this error: Localhost ->eth0 Can't Connect to
localhost:2525
The Sensor Message reads: curl: (7) Connect failed
How does this get fixed?

Nagios... Is this supposed to configure the httpd.conf file to set up
all of the host on the system, or is this something I want to setup
webmin to do?

For now I am placing my main website in /var/www/htdocs-unsecure. Is
this something that I should not be doing?

Thanks for the help,
Tom

if so could you give me any advice or suggestions on installing it.

Also how do i add the logo's to the different servers in nagios/nagat.

[sentinix-list] re: installation issues

Hello,

I am attempting to install Sentinix on a Gateway GPS-350 workstation and am running into some issues during
the install process. The workstation boots from the cd, I enter 'plain' (the workstation has a single
processor) and I am presented with a console message that states "Type "install" to enter Sentinix'
installation program. If you want a console during install you find them on Alt+F2, Alt+F3 and Alt+F4.
Syslog messages are on tty12 (Alt+F12)." I type 'install' at the root <at> sentinix:/# prompt. I am then
presented with a Sentinix Installation Procedure screen. I select the keyboard type (English) and then
select number 2 (Start the Installation process) and I receive the following message:

"No hard disks found" Press return to continue.

If there is a workaround, please let me know.

regards,

Lindsay Hunt
