RSBAC 1.4.2

Hello all!

RSBAC 1.4.2 has been released for kernel 2.6.29.2. We expect a significant
speedup and even better SMP scalability from the new RCU based list locking.

There will be no more releases for 2.4 kernels, because new features like RCU
require 2.6. Still, 1.4.1 for 2.4.37 is very stable and has no known bugs.
Please keep using 1.4.1 for 2.4 like we do. The svn trunk for 2.4 will stay
maintained for a while.

Most Important changes since 1.4.0 (somehow we skipped the 1.4.1
announcement):

  * Change generic lists to use RCU instead of rw spinlocks

  * New SCD target videomem on x86 arch to distinguish between video and other
kernel memory (SCD kmem) access

  * New config option RSBAC_ENFORCE_CLOSE to really deny close, if decided

  * Check protocol in NETLINK network templates when matching

  * Upgrade to 2.6.29.x, tons of kernel internal API changes again a usual

  *  Many small bugfixes

Upgrading from 1.3 or 1.4.x is easy: Compile, install and boot. Some extra
checks might require minor adjustments, though.

Amon.

forum

Hi,

the forum is up but have some problems.

First is the user registration with captcha does not work.
Then i use the audofile to list the captcha. This work.
So the first part have to fix for user friendly, because this captcha
are not english is more american-english pronucication.
Iam not a native english speaker and maybe some others too.
So the captcha has to be a clearly spoken english and nothing else.

The second what maybe have to structure more userfriedly is, that a
registered user not able to publish a new topic in this categories.

RSBAC Forum > General Category > Configurations/Tips

My understand for moderation help was to read topics and articles and
if is really garbage there to unpublished it.
The registered user should be eable without waiting of permission from
moderator to use this forum and write free his articles and comments on
parts of the forum.
It can have parts of the forum which are for news an others that only
can added by a moderator but this is not the question.

Yes, I sent Amon a note asking for access to the log files so that I can
figure out why only the first letter is showing. I assume he's been
busy with the release, so I haven't bothered him.

I' not sure recording the captcha is going to make much difference, as
everyone has their own pronounciation differences.

I was waiting to get registration working before posting to the list or
finishing the permissions, as Amon hasn't given me feedback on the
boards yet.

forum

Hi list,

now the forum is established but the captcha not work. it should fix
quickly.
Than what i see that a registered user need a moderator to access his
post. This point i think should change that the registered user can for
example, on configuration tips or introduction publish his writing free
himself.
When the moderator get an email about new post, then he can read the
message and only if its garbage he must clean it.
For example an moderator is 10h not on his email and an user write an
comment to an other article and must wait 10h then than communication
flow is break.
Even in the german 'bundestagpetitionsforum' can a registered user write
his comment and i see some time, like content remove because §3 ...
So they read it later and user has freedom to write his articles.

Grüsse
jens
