you know, it is very nice to see that it took the company around 6 month
to leave the "strategically positioned" office in haifa (see
http://www.tehutinetworks.net/newstore/shop2071/newstorefront/Lookup.taf?_function=details&_ID=28&GROOP=21)
in favor of hertzelya. you might want to tell your marcom/PR people to view the 'news'
items on your sites and remove this embarassing statement ;)

Suggestions for diff(C++(1991),C++(2005)), anyone?

I am faced with the following situation.
I learned C++ at the early 1990's, and Turbo C++ 2.0 (later versions
were called Borland C++) was my learning and development platform.

During the intervening years, I got along very well thank you with C++
without templates, exceptions, namespaces or new keywords. I did some
reading of the STL but did not get around to using it.

Now I am faced with the task of refreshing my knowledge of standard C++.

I am very reluctant to dive into a 500 pages long C++ with explanations
of virtual destructors and private friend functions just to familarize
myself with the changes made to C++ standard header files handling.

Can anyone suggest a Web site which covers exactly the changes from
C++(circa 1991)[Turbo C++ 2.0] to C++(circa 2005)[gcc 3.3.5], which will
help me get familiar with the changes by reading not more than say 20
pages?
                                 Thanks,
                                      --- Omer

Re: Suggestions for diff(C++(1991),C++(2005)), anyone?

some good books (also available on the internet)
1. C++ common knowladge.
(explains the fine points of many points you
discussed)
2. Essensial C++, more essensial C++, Essensial coding
standards / Sutter
explains lots of fine points. maybe to hard right now
3. Effective C++, more effective C++, effective STL /
meyers
also explains mainly the fine points.... easier and
not as good as essensial c++.
4. C++ templates / Vendervourde , Josttis - best book
ever written about templates.
5. Modern C++ programming / alexanderscu
explains C++ with templates and design patterns. old
but still good.

there are more but those are the best i know to catch
up with modern C++.

does scribus work with hebrew?

Hi all,

I am trying to design a booklet and thought to use scribus, but when I switch to hebrew keyboard it won't type
anything I type but nothing appears on the page.

Has anyone used scribus for hebrew layout and if so how.
If not what would you recommend to use instead.
I have as a backup plan to create all the text in the gimp and then import it all into scribus as graphics, which
will work but is a great waste of time...

thanks
Aaron

I am not using hebrew, so my advice is unrelated to the specific
problem. However, the graphics route is insanity incarnate. I suggest
using OO draw - not great, but much better than text as graphics.

Here's an interesting bit of information for you:

Are you running it with LANG=he_IL? (Or at least
LC_CTYPE=he_IL.)

If you like pain you can also use the layers feature of Gimp to design
your brochure. Assuming you use pre made photos and there are not too
many pages to make it will work very well.

	    Yes hebrew doesn't live as text inside my scribus, If I type hebrew the cursor doesn't even move. If import
hebrew text I get boxes..

No I have not touched this issue, in the past when I played with this I got errors on my debian box. I run an
english linux box, I don't want my default language to be hebrew.

Next is this what is effecting scribus.
Next this should be done via reconfigure locale in debian or just added to .bash_profile?
