It's says LOCAL, and the hwclock is most certainly resynced. Besides, at
eash reboot hwclock-save.service should assure that the bios clock gets
synced. But, at the next boot, it's broken again.

I upgraded from F14. There were no issues before the upgrade.

I thought that it was odd that after I upgraded to F15, applied the updates,
and rebooted a few times, the clock was off by twelve hours. I just shrugged
it off as a gremlin, and resynced from my ntp server.

But when I noticed that the clock immediately jumped to being four hours
later after a reboot, the alarm bell went off.

Unfortunately, now that we have this systemd infrastructure, it's not as

Sorry to say this, but after some of the jaded comments you've made in
the past I don't hold you in high regard.

If I had had your experience
(and I have had much worse, though not with Fedora-15)
I would probably try:

1. Try to install in text mode.
(My guess would be that your problem is with the graphics driver.)
I'm not sure if text mode is explicitly offered any more,
as it used to be?

[If I could find no other way, and had Fedora-14 on the machine,
I would abstract vmlinuz and initrd.img from the Fedora-15 DVD ISO
(by running " mount -o loop Fedora...iso /mnt")
copy them to /boot and add a stanza to grub.conf to call them
with a line like "kernel /vmlinuz text",
or else run grub interactively.]

2. Try the Fedora-15 netinstall CD.

*Shrug!* That's your privilege.

name of java rpm? jre native fedora java

Dear folks,

I am happily running Fedora 15 on several boxes. Our school will be switching from VistaNet to PowerSchool
Online systems by Pearsons. We used to do attendance/grading on Vistanet and now we will use Powerschool
online Gradebook which appears to need java to run. On one of my machines I have java already as I run the testers:

http://www.java.com/en/download/testjava.jsp

and it returns that java is present.

but there is no rpm reported back:

[olivares <at> acer-aspire-1 ~]$ rpm -qa java
[olivares <at> acer-aspire-1 ~]$

I would like to know which rpm is the one that gives the open source/free java implementation in Fedora. This
way I can install it on other machines in case it is not present and be ready to migrate to the new gradebook.
Also if there are any teachers out there that have used PowerSchool Online Gradebook on Fedora and have any
caveats, tips, tricks to share them. I would like to continue using Fedora/Linux to do these tasks. I had
run Easy Grade Pro using wine for the last several years successfully and now the system changes again and I
want to be ready.

Regards,

Antonio

Logout issue?

Running fully updated F15/64bit.

When logging out, I often have several apps running. Among them are
Google Chrome and Google Earth.

On a subsequent login I've had Google Chrome come up without it "pined
tabs". A restart of Chrome restored the pins.

Once, so far, Google Earth indicated that myplaces.kml was corrupt. It
restored from backup and all is OK for now.

The above never happened in F11 that I'd been running for quite some
time. This would seem, on the surface, to suggest a race condition of
some sort.

Just wondering if anyone has seen this? Unfortunately, it does not
happen with any frequency or consistency.

Re: Not enough info, so no point

What I don't get is if certain people are so jaded, why so they stick around? Like another person said, this is
all done for free. Its not like people here are stuck to answerin questions 40 hours a week. If questions
upset you, then hit the road. There's no reason for angry/jaded people to stick around here. It makes no
sense.

I have been seeing a lot of complaints about F15.
This tells me that this release was made in too much
of a hurry (only ~6 months after release of F14 around
near mid Nov. 2010).
Seems to me not enough testing was done before release.
Let's hope F16 will be more solid.
