No way.. this is my grub.conf and it doesn't work at all:

default=0
timeout=5
splashimage=(hd0,0)/grub/splash.xpm.gz
title Fedora Core (2.4.22-1.2115.nptl)
        root (hd0,0)
        kernel /vmlinuz-2.4.22-1.2115.nptl ro vga=0x31A root=LABEL=/
hdd=ide-scsi
        initrd /initrd-2.4.22-1.2115.nptl.img

Any suggestions?

Done, i also removed rhgb and gdm but:
On boot grub keeps tellig me that i passed an undefined video mode and when i
logout from my kde session the monitor turns off! I can still give commands
but i can't see anything... i have an AOC 17" display.
