Re: animated backgrounds

You want real desktop animation crack? Here is what I want. I want to
do a desktop version of the Museum of the North's "The Place Where You
Go to Listen"

http://www.uaf.edu/museum/exhibit/index.html
"The Place Where You Go to Listen is a unique sound and light
environment created by composer John Luther Adams. This ever-changing
musical ecosystem gives voice to the rhythms of daylight and darkness,
the phases of the moon, the seismic vibrations of the earth and the
dance of the aurora borealis, in real time."

All the data that art installation uses is available publicly through
the Geophysical Institute's real time monitering system via the web. I
want to see something similar for the desktop except do this without
sound... do it only with animated svg desktop elements!

of scientific data into a artist forms as science education

I figure producing them as svg means I can just export to whatever
size I want? Only thing is, when I've exported icons I've already
created, or simply viewed them as svg (thumbnail previews) they
haven't looked as sharp as when I've produced them, instead looking
slightly blurred. Is there any reason why this is? (using inkscape)

I'll have to check these out....for now I'm just substituting my icons

Yes. You need to align them to the pixel grid. You can't simply draw it
once and export it to whatever sizes... you have to align the artwork to
the pixel grid for every size. Some references:

Woah! I've just gained a massive amount more respect for all the work
that icon developers have to do!!

Thanks for the advice both of you - playing with it now and it has
made it looked a lot better, at least imho :D

First batch of Category Echo icons complete

Hi,

I've just finished a first batch of Category icons for the Echo icon
set. All the icons that go to the Applications menu are therefore
(hopefully) complete, with all sizes included. You can look at them at
my fedorapeople page [1]. Comments welcome. If no objections arise, I
will upload them next weekend to the echo-icon-theme git repository.

Thanks,
Martin

Fedora Mascot - Blue Arara Idea

I'd like to send you another version of Blue Arara Mascot for Fedora.

The svg file can be found here: http://freeplone2.openia.com/teledev/imagens/blue_arara.svg/download

It's just an idea. The bird was designed primarily from a "f" drawing...

Regards,
Antonio.

I think people would get a better idea about them from a screenshot of a
real desktop using the icons. (I expect they will not loot that great on
*my* desktop, with a very dark background and a partly transparent panel).
