First use of Infinity Logo

All,

I'm hoping for someone who can knows, or can find out, some tiny pieces
of information for me. We are filing an application to register the
copyright in the Infinity logo in China. For the application, we need
the exact date of publication and the place of publication, which for
purposes of an online publication would be where the server was located.

The Wayback Machine show the first use of the logo online in April,
2006. Does anyone have any information on the exact date it was
published? Second, does anyone know for sure where our servers were in
April, 2006 (or whatever date the logo was first published)? I have
information that the main Fedora server was at Duke, but was moved to
Phoenix, and the person didn't know exactly when the servers were moved.

Thanks,

less wrapped up with this for now, and we may revisit the issue after F17.

If the documentation is up to date, these appear to be missing:

Reminder: Public Board IRC meeting :: TODAY, Wednesday, 2012-02-08, 18:30 UTC

Greetings and salutations,

A friendly reminder that the Fedora Board will be holding its biweekly
public IRC meeting today. Please note that the meeting is open,
everyone is invited, participation and input is welcomed, and we will be
having a Q & A session after we move through business.

When: 18:30 UTC (1:30pm US-Eastern), on February 8, 2012
Where: in #fedora-meeting on irc.freenode.net (assuming no conflicts)
Meeting Info: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Board/IRC
Meeting Secretary: The amazing Peter Robinson is scheduled to take the
helm on secretarial duties today.

Agenda:

* Incredibly Rapid General Announcements And Such
* Tickets! I'm sure we have some. I am not able to view them yet in
trac. But as a preliminary guess based on last week's minutes:
** Ticket 130, Make the Board less of a single point of failure
** Ticket 131, retire torrent seed? (There was a resolution from
last week, not sure if ticket is closed.)
     ** Ticket 132, endorsement of http://github.com/fedoraproject
** Trademark Guidelines (don't know if there is a ticket here)
** Other tickets not seen in previous meetings that are new that I
cannot yet see :)
* Open Q & A session

Editor's note: I like to actually see time in Board meetings to *have*
the planned open Q & A. If we can move through open tickets in a fairly
rapid way that would be awesome.

Jaroslav's 2012 goals

Hi,
first I have to say, I like all the goals from other Board members
and I'd like to take a part in and help as much as possible.

As you know, I'm the Brno's Red Hatter - we are growing rapidly here
with a lots of new Fedora contributors every month, but quite isolated
from the rest of Red Hat and especially from Fedora community. But I
have to say - all these people are passionated devels. So my goal is
to be a bridge for them to enter our community, to inform them what's
happening in Fedora, what are our goals, our vision etc. Also I'd
like to help them to reach our community from inside - a lot of shy
people who'd like to make a big stuff for community but are usually
afraid to do it.

You know, I'm also Fedora KDE SIG guy and there will be big days
with all Active stuff - so I'd like to work on it, to bring Fedora
to the new form factors devices like tablets, cell phones etc. But
not to forgot our desktop users.

We are planning a lot of events to show Fedora to more users and to
get even more developers and I think we're doing a great job, making
old Fedora country again Fedora country (I mean Czech Republic).

Christoph's board member tasks

Projects I'd like to champion as a board member:

I. Improve collaboration and coordination
This is one of strategic goals the board agreed on last year, but AFAICS
not much has actually changed. Therefor I'd like to help implementing
this with a few projects:
     1. Evaluate groupware solutions for Fedora.
     2. Fedora Council, a round table for coordination [1]. This is more
of an idea at the moment rather than an actual project.
     3. Streamlining processes and standard operating procedures

II .Less red tape
I am currently working on new election guidelines for FAmSCo [2]. We
already agreed on taking over large parts of the guidelines of the board
or FESCo, but rather than copying them I'd like all bodies to agree on
common definitions. Even if we have different definitions for
"candidates" or "voters", it really makes no sense to have 3 different
definitions of "seat" or "schedule". Instead we should just establish a
common schedule and refer to it in all policies.

III: Streamline standard operating procedures
     1. I am already working on a new spins process [3]. It should not
only be an improvement over the current process but be ,much
closer to the feature process. Ideally, both will be handled by
the same wrangler and share a common schedule.
     2. The ambassadors have 5 regional trackers (NA, LATAM, EMEA, APAC
and India plus FAmSCo's trac. I don't want to close and of them
down, but we should develop common procedures to handle swag
production and shipping throughout all 6 trackers.
     3. We have way more examples of where we have similar, but slightly

Peter's 2012 Goal

Hi All,

I forgot to send this before I went to sleep last night.

This isn't too long as it's still being fleshed out in my mind, and in
actual practice.

Short: Progress the ARM architecture to Primary Arch

Longer:

The ARM processor platform is becoming large with devices from SSDs
through to servers now available running the device. There's is now
and will continue to increase a large range of devices running on ARM
from the XO laptop, tablets, smart books, smart tops, servers, compute
nodes, TVs, STBs etc. I strongly believe that Fedora needs to support
this architecture to remain relevant and allow us to bring our project
to an enlarged audience of millions.

There's a lot of things completely undefined in promoting a new
architecture so I plan to work with the ARM SIG to define those
processes and generally move the project forward.

This will also assist with secondary architecture processes and tools.

Sub-projects suggestion

I hope Sub-projects PackageMaintainers should be changed to
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/PackageMaintainers,rather than use
redirect.

Besides, could Fedora add insight to sub projects?

My Board member tasks

Hi folks,

Here is what I am passionate about seeing in Fedora:

The cloud.

I apologize for using a buzzword in a serious task, but I see cloud-y
things becoming far more important in the free software landscape and
in technology in general. In many ways it parallels the goals (albeit
in different ways) free software aspires to in empowering a user, by
offering on-demand self-service access to resources. I also fear what
happens if free software doesn't continue to play a leading role here,
and particularly if Fedora doesn't continue to participate.

Thusly, my goals are:
* Ensure that the major IaaS providers make Fedora available as a
deployable option.
* Ensure that the major open source IaaS and PaaS platforms are
packaged and available in Fedora.
* Ensure that the surrounding ecosystem is also available in Fedora,
be it the API abstraction tools like jclouds and fog, or provisioning
tools like puppet cloud provisioner, knife, and Boxgrinder are in
Fedora and available for people to use Fedora in cloud-building
activities.

In addition to this main goal I have a couple goals regarding the
governance within Fedora:

* Make sure the board remains responsive and accountable - often times
people are hindered from getting things done by our slow response -
