6 color photo printer, prints using LC/LM channels?

Dear all,

I'm looking for a way of modifying the Gutenprint sourcecode so that it could have a "Ink Type" such as "Light Magenta & Light Cyan" 2 color mode. The image will be translated from CMYK to Lc/Lm, where CM combined become a single channel Lc data, while YK become single channel Lm. This will enable me to print using a special chemical via Lc/Lm ONLY. (as described in previous thread, there'll b 2 layers of chemical, 1 is CMYK and the other LcLm, and modification of loading mechanism has been achieved)

Anybody could give me a hand on exactly where/how to modify Gutenprint to fit into this application? Or, is there anyone that can be paid for doing this for me??

THanks alot guys!!
Andy

Postscript driver update

So finally, after way too long, I *think* I finally banged out the
code to make the Postscript driver handle the Gutenprint PPD files
correctly. It keys off these lines I'm putting in the Gutenprint PPD
file:

*StpStpCyanDensity: 3 0 1 1 1 0.000 2.000 1.000

to figure out how to present these options to the user.

Unfortunately, this won't work with the Foomatic PPD files, because
there's no way of inserting lines like this into those files. People
using Foomatic will still get the ugly presentation of the floating
point and dimension options as pick one's.

I'm still not certain I have all of the corner cases covered, so
everyone, please test the repository (this will be in 5.1.4) against
both Gutenprint and non-Gutenprint PPD files using the GIMP plugin.

Big thanks to the folks from HP (David Suffield and John Oleinik) who
wrote the new PPD handling code. I had to make localized changes to
that code to insert the Gutenprint information into the option
structure.

The HP folks asked us to remove support for HP inkjet printers as part
of the deal, since these printers are supported by HPIJS. If there's
anyone who can't use HPIJS (or for whom the current version of the
HPIJS driver doesn't work well, or if any of these aren't supported by
HPIJS), please let me know. I think it would be worthwhile to also
remove support for the HP-branded color laser printers, since
Gutenprint only supports grayscale output on these printers.

I intend to pull them out of printers.xml and foomatic-printermap,
rather than removing support from the PCL driver. There are some
third party printers that use this driver, which will need continued
support through Gutenprint.

Postscript driver update

BTW, all of this only applies to the 5.1 mainline -- the stable 5.0
branch will not be getting this update, and I don't plan to remove
support for the HP inkjets from the stable branch.

OK. Have you checked the list of other printers?

Re: Postscript driver update

There are also very old HP inkjets, which do not work with HPIJS. They
work also with the "pcl3" built-in Ghostscript driver but probably with
Gutenprint one gets a better print quality and a better user interface
(options are easier to understand). Candidates for these printers are
below, there can be more, especially very old OfficeJets. Dave, John,
please complete the list below.

Stylus DX4050 works with Gutenprint driver for DX 3850

Hi,

Here

https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gutenprint/+bug/138822

a user reported that the Stylus DX4050 is not in the printer list of
Gutenprint but that it works with the Gutenprint driver for the DX 3850.
Can you add this printer to Gutenprint appropriately?
