PPTP conf help...

hi folks,

i'm new to linux. i want to setup a vpn server in my office.

i'm running fedora 4 with magnia file server (sg30). i have connected with internet through adsl (d-link
502t) router.

now my magnia server takes care of vpn, apache and other things. i want to replace magnia with pc as server.

i tried to configure pptp server in my pc. in first attempt clients can connect with the pptp, in the
following attempts it is saying an error 800, the server is not reachable. my pc is not directly connected
to router, but thorugh magnia server as hub.

is pppoe needed to establish vpn server? how can i route it to my pc from router? can you please give me step by
step details.

thanks in advance.

with luv
senthil

While pppd is involved in a PPTP VPN, it isn't really inside the scope
of PPP and this mailing list.

You should contact the poptop-server <at> lists.sourceforge.net mailing list
for the pptpd project. See http://poptop.org/ and the archives on
http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=poptop-server

You should contact the pptpclient-devel <at> lists.sourcerfoge.net mailing
list for the pptp client project. See http://pptpclient.sourceforge.net/

This does not sound unusual, I've heard of such problems.

No, not a PPTP VPN server.

Don't know. Contact your router provider.

Try OpenVPN if you haven't already. It has a few features that increase

Hello

Hello

I am the branch manager of Mega Bank Sao Tome & Principe PLC; A
few years ago, Mega Bank was very liquid and its shares commanded
respect in the Sao Tome & Principe Stock Exchange; Infact, a fast
growing and vibrant bank. But its Chairman and Directors siphoned
the
bank liquid reserves to fund their lavish lifestyles, buying expensive
real estate properties all over the world. A top secret memorandum from
the Central Bank of Sao Tome & Principe revealed that Mega Bank will be
liquidated under the bankruptcy laws of Sao Tome
& Principe in May
2006.

This will allow the chairman and the thieving Directors to
escape with their loot! This is because the bankruptcy and insurance
laws in Sao Tome & Principe were not designed to protect the
shareholders and customers of the Bank; rather, the laws were designed
to protect the Owners
and Directors.

I have worked over 30 years in
Mega Bank and I am entitled to provide a pension for myself
and my
family. Therefore, I have perfected a plan to invest a sum of
USD10million abroad. I intend to purchase one or more of the following
as a long term investment plan:

1. Placement in a bank or financial
institution.

Troubleshooting MPPE problem.

Sorry for the kinda/sorta cross-post. I'm hoping someone on the ppp list
might be a bit more familiar with this type of issue...

I *believe* it to be an MPPE problem.

Got a new client who we set a server up for running Poptop 1.3.1 and pppd
2.4.3. Client has a VOP Radius server (made by Vircom -- apparently
unsupported now although still some docs for it on their website).

First off, everything works fine if I configure authentication to use our
Radiator-based Radius server.

After a lot of tweaking finally got VOP to send back the proper reply
attributes and authentication succeeds and the tunnel is brought up.
However, no data passes over the tunnel. Upon closer examination of debug
logs, it appears that MPPE is failing to negotiate properly as I am seeing
many fo the Unsupported protocol rejection messages that often correspond
with this.

Sure enough, if I disbale MPPE as a requirement the tunnel authenticates,
comes up and I can pass traffic.

I tried various combinations of options in my options file (nopcomp, etc) to
no avail. I am wondering if perhaps the VOP Radius server is doing
something wrong when it generates its MPPE keys?

BTW, this is trying with both pptpclient 1.7.0 based clients and Windows XP
based clients. I am using the MPPE module built into the 2.6.16 kernel (no
MPPC).
