WD80EB-28DFH2 geometry

Sorry to bother You guys but clutching at any straw.

I have purchased 2 of drives and at moment trying to install to PC.
What I need is info on geometry of drive, ie tracks heads sectors yes I know
auto setting should work but on my old PII board it does not seem to work for
any drive.

Drive itself doesn't display it Western Digital is not helpfull eighter, no
info I could find.
Seems I would not be able to use them. Would any of You know this data or
place where I could possibly find out.
Seller told me he could not help me eighter.

Thank's in advance
Michael

Re: WD80EB-28DFH2 geometry

Search online for the drive's model number (a long string, maybe 8
letters/digits- ex. for seagate: Barracuda XXXXXXXXX) and see if it's
there. Otherwise, try putting on a newer mobo w/ auto, and write down
what it detects (it should display them in unmodifiable form in the
bios)

Could it just be that the drives are still locked?

Easy to use Video Player

I'm searching for an easy to use video player for my Xebian box in my
living room. I'd like to convert the box into a standalone
video-playback device for my kids. The videos are on the
network on my Ubuntu server.
I'd like an environnement booting directly into the video player. It
sould be easy to choose and play a video using the remote control with
no way to mess stuff up by pressing the wrong button at the wrong
time.
I've played around with mplayer and yine, but it looks like I'd have
to develop a skin to make them useful. Mythtv looks good and simple,
but the video plugin is missing and I'ts very sluggish because of the
only 64M memory on the box.

Any hints or pointers ?

Re: Easy to use Video Player

Actually I suggest you abandon Linux on the Xbox for this task and go with
Xbox Media Center, which is an open source dashboard application for the
Xbox but runs as a native Xbox application. It will do everything you want
it to do and a whole lot more, add in the xbox remote and you have the most
efficent, effective, and idiot proof solution for what you want.

Re: Easy to use Video Player

I had a look at xbmc and think it is the best solution for my problem.

Can I now just create a fat32 partition on my drive and place the
xbmc file into it and the cromwell bios will be able to find and boot
the xbmx xbe file ?
