RE: Re: Re: Re: fatx and linux

I'm a newb and I LOVE Gentoo(x). Portage is really easy to use, and it has
almost every application I can think of (which isn't much :D )

Xebian 1.02 is bootable on a PC.
Assuredly 1.03 is as well.

I cannot tell you it has fatx support, but it has some tools...
I sort of ASSUME it would...

(Sorry, but I haven't opened my xbox yet...)

Give it a shot and report back.

Have you INSTALLED knoppix yet??? hd_install

//rant mode ON
As long as you aren't trying to use it as a "real" distro, it works

Re: Help: mouse not working, keyboard okay

Hi,

same problem here, got it working now :) This is a problem with multiple
usb input drivers in kernel.

Symptoms:
when plugged in the device is detected, following lines are in kernel log:

input0: Microsoft Microsoft Wireless Optical Desktop? 1.00 on usb1:4.0
input: USB HID v1.11 Mouse [Microsoft Microsoft Wireless Optical
Desktop? 1.00] on usb1:4.1

and /proc/bus/usb/devices contains

P: Vendor=045e ProdID=008a Rev=73.73
S: Manufacturer=Microsoft
S: Product=Microsoft Wireless Optical Desktop? 1.00
C:* #Ifs= 2 Cfg#= 1 Atr=a0 MxPwr=100mA
I: If#= 0 Alt= 0 #EPs= 1 Cls=03(HID ) Sub=01 Prot=01 Driver=usbkbd
E: Ad=81(I) Atr=03(Int.) MxPS= 8 Ivl=10ms
I: If#= 1 Alt= 0 #EPs= 1 Cls=03(HID ) Sub=00 Prot=00 Driver=hid
E: Ad=82(I) Atr=03(Int.) MxPS= 7 Ivl=10ms

With this configuration it does not work. Mouse is properly detected,
but generates no events (test it with command 'od -x /dev/input/mouse0'
and then move with it)

The correct/working setup looks like this:

hub.c: new USB device 00:02.0-3, assigned address 7

Yes, but not to get off the particular problem thats
keeping me from mounting the memory card...

The dev structure this cd uses is not what I am used
to, and I don't know what to mount for the memory
card...

Time to do some devfs googling to find how it enumerates usb mass storage
devices, then. :)

Re: Re: Re: Re: fatx and linux

XD I was on a similar track a few minutes ago...
I was looking on the tldp though :)
http://tldp.org/HOWTO/Flash-Memory-HOWTO/verifications.html#proc-probe
Seems to describe what I should do, but
/proc/scsi/usb-storage-0/1 doesn't exist, and in
/proc/scsi/sg/ there is no entry for a usb storage
device >:/
I guess I'll have to hot swap afterall. None of the
live cds I've tried reconize the thing.

Xebian 1.0.3 and Freevo 1.5 - is there a bug in plugin joyadv?

Hi all,

I'm working on a Cromwell 2.31 box, and I note that Freevo will not start
unless the xpad is plugged in. I also find that unplugging the xpad crashes
freevo. A CD won't be recognized in Freevo unless the xpad is removed, then
reinstalled.

In order to get Freevo to work without the xpad, manually set the
/etc/freevo/local_conf.py line joy_dev = 0 and comment out the "joyadv"
plugin.

The bug-report:

linux on Xbox without console ?

Hi,

Does anyone know how to have a fully running linux without console ? I don't
mean remove the video cable but really output nothing to console. I have
tried console=none in the linuxboot.cfg but found that doing this, I cannot
telnet into it, though I can ping it. So it seems that some apps somehow got
confused without console.

Or alternatively, can I direct the console to some pseudo device and not
pumping out to tty0(1?) which is the TV screen ?

Re: Xebian 1.0.3 and Freevo 1.5 - is there a bug in plugin joyadv?

A followup:

If a static IP is used, and the ethernet cable is not connected, Freevo
hangs on at the end of the startup. If the cable is plugged in, then Freevo
finishes the startup.

Is there any way to get the xbox configured so that Freevo boots despite the
status of the network connection?

Thanks, Rob

Re: Xebian 1.0.3 and Freevo 1.5 - is there a bug in plugin joyadv?

I am afraid it may be easier and quicker to ask on freevo.sf.net :-)

Must be some clock thing or may be grabbing the TV guide ?
