I got this bug at the mondorestore time.

I found the answer here : http://www.mondorescue.org/news.shtml
2011-06-30 Regression in mindi-busybox 1.18.3
The mindi-busybox 1.18.3 packages currently availble have a regression compared to the previous 1.7.3 version: it doesn't delete the loop device when umounting the ISO. So as 8 loop are available by default, depending on the media used it may errored more or less rapidly. If you do not suffer from the tar problem that motivated that upgrade, go back to 1.7.3 or increase the number of loop devices when loading the device.

However, how to :
- easily go back to version 1.7.3 ?
- increase the number of loop devices at the mondorestore time ? (the loop module is in use and can't be unloaded)

Thanks in advance,
Bruno

Re: please insert nfs #1 and press Enter

Hello Bruno,

It depends if “loop” is compiled inside the kernel or if loop is a module.

If loop is compiled inside the kernel (RHEL 6 for example) you should be able to add max_loop=64 to the /etc/mindi/mindi.conf via putting "MINDI_ADDITIONAL_BOOT_PARAMS="max_loop=64" into that file before you run mondobackup.

Otherwise, to go back to mindi-busybox 1.7.3, you could remove mindi-busybox 1.18.3 package and get mindi-busybox 1.7.3 from ftp://ftp.mondorescue.org/src.

Which GNU/Linux distrib (and version) do you use ?

Which versions of mondo, mindi and mindi-busybox do you use ?

It seems that the mondorescue loop problem is solved in http://trac.mondorescue.org/changeset/2878.

Re: please insert nfs #1 and press Enter

I was about to answer to myself when I read your post : thank you, I
guess your answer could help other people.

However, I've just discovered something was wrong with my config : I had
installed lenny instead of squeeze with the mondo depot of squeeze.
Now with squeeze, I have no issue anylonger ; very sorry for this too
quick post...

Re: -E parameter ignored?!

Hi Dikla,

For one directory, you can use:

-E /home/mondo_test/dir3

or:

-E "/home/mondo_test/dir3"

If you want to exclude a few directories, since mondo 2.2.9.5. there is a new syntax for -E and -I options, pipe character ('|') is used to separate the paths, instead of space character. Example:

-E "/home/mondo_test/dir3|/home/dikla"

Which GNU/Linux distrib (and version) do you use ?

About Mondorescue, the latest versions are :

  • mondo-2.2.9.7-1

  • mindi-2.0.7.8-1

  • mindi-busybox-1.18.3-3

Rgds,

Victor

Subject: [Mondo-devel] -E parameter ignored?!

Hi,

I'm trying to run mondo from command line, and I experience a problem. In order to check it more quickly I created the following file hierarchy:

/home
    /mondo_test
        /dir1
            ... some files under dir1
        /dir2
            ... some files under dir2
        /dir3
            ...some files under dir3

I want all the contents of /home/mondo_test in the backup, besides the contents of dir3.

This is the command line that I use:
 mondoarchive -OV -d /var/cache/mondo1/ -p mondorescue -i -I "/home/mondo_test/" -E "/|/home/mondo_test/dir3/"

I tried two options for the value of the -E paramterer. Either "/home/mondo_test/dir3" or as specified above: "/|/home/mondo_test/dir3". With both I got the same results which are that dir3 and its contents were included in the backup.

What am I doing wrong?

I attach the log.

Thanks,
Dikla

In Dikla's -E example, it appears that | was used:

> "/home/mondo_test/" -E "/|/home/mondo_test/dir3/"

Might Dikla need to use spaces between each selection and the | symbols?

In that case, could it be an issue of having the root filesystem is listed

I think so.

-I ``path ...''
... When using the -I option with the -E option, the -E content should be subdirectories of those mentioned
in the -I only, as -I takes precedence.

Errors trying to backup new Mandriva 2011

I just installed Mandriva 2011 on an x86_64 HP machine. Prior to that,
the same machine was running Mandriva 2010.2 and mondoarchive worked
fine. I did an installation, not an upgrade. I installed mondo from
the Mandriva package manager.

Just tried my first backup, and got the following:

===
BusyBox's sources are available from http://www.busybox.net
Making catalog of files to be backed up
sh: -c: line 0: unexpected EOF while looking for matching `''
sh: -c: line 1: syntax error: unexpected end of file
sh: -c: line 0: unexpected EOF while looking for matching `''
sh: -c: line 1: syntax error: unexpected end of file
Done.
===

Also, it reported wanting a ridiculous amount of media to complete the
backup:
===
--evalcall---E---
Your backup will occupy one meeeeellion media! (maybe 25)
Done.
===

I CTRL-C out at this point, since I really don't want to use 25 DVDs for
a backup that used to always take 1. I have reviewed the exclude list
against df and ls, and all seems correct. That suggest that the
incorrect amount of backup specified is somehow related to the errors
listed above.

Log attached.

some error messages. Please read them carefully before you
decide to break out in a cold sweat. Despite (or perhaps

Cannot get mondorescue to work on Ubuntu 11.10

Hi,

I recently upgraded my Ubuntu install (without looking if there was
issues with mondo, my bad). to 11.10 and ever since I've been trying to
get it to work.

Here is what I get with the stable versions (this is an interactive
execution, but a command-line one doesn't work either.

Errors were encountered while processing:
  mindi-busybox_1.18.3-3_amd64.deb

Which usually gets me into an unstable package database, and if I try to
run mondoarchive it doesn't work. Actually here is the relevant part of
the error message:

Boot+data disks were created OK
cp: cannot stat
`/media/Backup1/mondo.scratch.17767/mondo.scratch.31436/images/all.tar.gz':
No such file or directory
Fatal error... Cannot find all.tar.gz in tmpdir

If you require technical support, please contact the mailing list.
See http://www.mondorescue.org for details.
The list's members can help you, if you attach that file to your e-mail.
Log file: /var/log/mondoarchive.log
Mondo has aborted.
Execution run ended; result=254
Type 'less /var/log/mondoarchive.log' to see the output log

I can provide the logfile if needed.

Thanks,

Ugo
