Version for Mageia

Mageia has 2.2.9.5. Is that the version with the segfault? If so, what do I
install?

HP DL360G6 PXE boot problem and fix

I just wanted to pass this on in case it helps someone else with this
problem.

I have a HP DL360 G6, 48GB RAM, 12 CPU with hyper-threading turned on.
mindi 2.0.7.5
mondo 2.2.9.4
mindi-busybox 1.7.3

mondoarchive to a NFS share worked fine. Used the default options in
README.pxe, copied the vmlinuz and initrd from the ISO to my tftpboot
directory and attempted a restore. The pxeboot worked and downloaded the
vmlinuz and initrd files and started to boot the server but would hang after
the "12 CPUs started" message.

I tried updating to mindi-2.0.7.7-1, mondo-2.2.9.6-1, and
mindi-busybox-1.18.3-2 and re-ran the archive but got the same result when
attempting to pxe restore. I downgraded to my original mondo/mindi versions
(our baseline right now) and started troubleshooting.

To make a long story short, after spending a couple hours playing around
with different kernel boot parameters, setting:

acpi=ht

instead of acpi=off fixed the problem and the restore worked without further
problems.

Regards,
Jason

[patch] fix probrem

Hi, all.
I made 2 patches.
First, fix -maxdepth option for find command. it sould be '-maxdepth .. -name ..', not '-name .. -maxdepth ..'.
Sencond, if =E option for mondoarchive was not specified, variable excp point to NULL, so string
exclude_pathes contain '(null)'.
Thanks.

mindi failure on ubuntu 10.10

I want to use mondo, primarily for disk-to-disk backup. Mindi fails, and I don't have a grub.conf file where
mondo expects it. Here is the log of the mindi problem, sent in the hope it will help you identify a
compatibility problem. I seem to remember Ubuntu intended to rename their grub conf file a couple of
builds ago, so I'm surprised its still a problem.

I will either find out how to use mondo as data only or use another archive tool. If you happen to find a good
solution that might work for me please cc my email, as I probably won't check the list.

Please update first to a recent version from

mondoarchive of mondoarchive not the same?

Hi,

I am looking for an explanation of the following:

1. I have a mondorescue DVD of a Debian Sid partition on LVM that I
restore to another partition on LVM. (=mondorestore.1.log.gz)

2. I boot that restored partition on LVM and immediately without making
any changes do a mondoarchive to generate another rescue DVD.
(=mindi.log.gz + mondoarchive.log.gz)

3. I boot the second mondorescue DVD but I cannot restore it to LVM
because it does not contain the /dev/mapper entries.
(=mondorestore.2.log.gz)

Why is that? Shouldn't #3 be the same as #1?

Both restore logs have the output of 'blkid“ at the end so you can see
whether the /dev/mapper entries are there.

Thanks.

Endless loop comparing using 2.2.9.5

Usiong Version 2.2.9.5 with Mageia in Compare mode., the program goes into an
endless loop trying to find my Nvidia driver. Sincce it was early in the
process, I didn't save the log. I think that it looks for it somewhere in
modprobe (Too sick to think clearly at the moment.) This line has always
repeated numerous times for me undder Mandriva, but on this occasion, after
giving it a generous chance to finish, it just kept going. This was just after
a recent upgrade of the driver, too.

I suppose that I can give the program what it is looking for?

Doug.

Yesterday, updates of mimdi and mindi-busybox came through. I now have
   Mondo 2.2.9.5
   Mindi 2.0.7.7
   Mindi-busybox 1.18.3

Another backup with the new packages fared no better. The file it can't find is
/etc/modprobe.d/display-driver.conf. That file exists: via /etc/alternatives,
it points to /etc/nvidia-current/modprobe.conf, which has permissions 444.
The target file consists of one line:

   install nvidia /sbin/modprobe nvidia-current $CMDLINE_OPTS

The entry is a warning only; restoring/comparing used to proceed after about
20 tries. This time it ran for a while, paused (for breath?) then continued
with the message.
