[Bug 25011] [i18n] New: No TrueType Chinese Fonts in Cooker/2007 beta

User ID: 77622, 1 bugs reported (0 fixed, 0 duplicate, 0 invalid), 5 comments.

http://qa.mandriva.com/show_bug.cgi?id=25011

      Distribution: cooker
Summary: No TrueType Chinese Fonts in Cooker/2007 beta
           Product: i18n
           Version: 2007.0-alpha1
          Platform: All
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: high
          Priority: normal
         Component: zh
        AssignedTo: cooker-i18n <at> mandrivalinux.org
        ReportedBy: yochenhsieh <at> xuite.net

There's no fonts-ttf-chinese in both cooker and current 2007 beta. Mandriva
uses a
bitmap simplified Chinese font for default, which cannot display some
Traditional
Chinese characters correctly, and also has limited sizes to use.
Please pack latest version (0.1.20060513) in
http://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Software_2fCJKUnifonts
Or revert to last stable version used in Mandriva 2006
http://rpms.mandrivaclub.com/rpms/mandriva/official/2006.0/SRPMS/main/fonts-ttf-chinese-1.3.0-1mdk.src.html

[Bug 19329] [ntp] UNCONFIRMED: User and group 'ntp' not created on new install

------- Comment #4 from thomas <at> btspuhler.com 2006-09-01 01:15 -------
I never had this problem, but still have the problem of not finding any servers
when booting.
This bug requires to synchronize the time manually (using the ntp)

I did a new install of 2006.0 with essentially a default list of packages. I
then went on to run drakclock to setup ntp. ntp & friends got automatically
installed by drakclock, but for some odd reason the user and group 'ntp' did
not get created upon install of ntp. Under this condition, the init.d script
will run ntpdate and set the time once, but it will then fail to run ntp so
that the clock does not stay synchronized.

I have an opera installation done from a Mandriva 10.1 RPM package, downloaded
and installed from the opera.com website.

About one week ago it suddenly showed up as:
Kmenu >> Internet >> Web Browsers >> Opera

But now its gone again, Firefox and Konqueror are left. I am certain an
opera.desktop file exists, it should show up in the menu?!

Latest news about rpm

Well, should we update to rpm 4.4.7, should we update to rpm 4.4.7 now ?

I think the reply is definitively YES ! Many some nice bugs^Wfeatures
are included !

Hey, I was kidding :)

I want just to point you two "interesting" mail Jeff Johnson sent
recently to rpm-devel list. I don't especially want to start a
discussion around now, rpm 4.4.7 include new features, some major
changes, and there is a some work to do before an integration.

So, here two URL only to inform you:

[Rpm-devel] {ANNOUNCE] deb2rpm development
https://lists.dulug.duke.edu/pipermail/rpm-devel/2006-August/001591.html

[Rpm-devel] Is RPM trademarked?
(rpm 4.4.7 release, filename and extension)
https://lists.dulug.duke.edu/pipermail/rpm-devel/2006-August/001592.html

I am already to the things that will be broken...

Openoffice font problem

Openoffice2.0.3 so far still doesn't allow to install fonts from the WEB
using the Wizard.
Everything works until the fonts are being downloaded. The download
actually happens (the lights are blinking) but there is no progress bar
and there are not fonts in the directory.
I have this on both cooker boxes. Someone else should test and confirm.

Then there is the annoying message if I want to upgrade the template.
But this is only an annoyance.
Missing the font installation requires to install them manually which is
not everybody's favorite. Not having the fonts will create a lot of
problems with MS documents because we have no similar fonts such as
Ariel or Times-new-roman. Documents created with $$word will look very
different in Openoffice.

[Bug 21570] [squid] RESOLVED: Default install squid http_port is unnecessarily broad

------- Comment #6 from ftg <at> adelphia.net 2006-09-01 03:23 -------
The cooker /etc/squid/squid.conf now has an

     http_port 3128

line in it. I guess this binds only to the local interfaces, so I guess you're
right.

The standard squid.conf comments out the http_port directive, which I
think defaults it to port 3128 and accept requests from anywhere.

Does this make sense for a base install ? Or should it start out as
127.0.0.1:3128 (only service this machine), and get changed only by
"Share your internet connection", and then only to the subnet and
localhost ?
