Then the problem is definitely in the kernel, so I am forwarding this bug to our
kernel gurus.

The printing of the garbage seems to be triggered by the loading of the parallel
port kernel modules. You could test it by entering these commands as root:

service cups stop
service hpoj stop
rmmod lp
rmmod parport_pc
rmmod parport
modprobe parport
modprobe parport_pc
modprobe lp
service hpoj start
service cups start

Clean install of MAndrake 10.0 community from CDROM.

I Chose bootloader = lilo graphical on /dev/fd0

[Bug 9319] [mailman] Mailman logs permissions errors

http://qa.mandrakesoft.com/show_bug.cgi?id=9319

------- Additional Comments From guillomovitch <at> mandrake.org 2004-04-01 02:30 -------
Even if I changed layout drastically to achieve FHS compliance, this kind of
problem is quite curious. Those files are created at run-time, and I guess the
various scripts take care of ensuring correct perms, whereas group ownership is
ensured by the setgid bit for the log directory. For instance, smtp and qrunner
log files are OK. I'm gonna check with the developpers.

Could you check this is not yet another msec problem, due for instance to a
custom setting from you ?

Btw, how to get/install them? I have the same thing on nearly every rpm I
install. (Probably a dumb question. Not an april joke, however :))

Not a hardware error. Try to revert to cdrecord-2.01-0.a26.1mdk.i586.rpm
and I would bet everything will work as expected.

It has been reported 10 days ago, but...

My Epson Stylus C82 also spits out a page on every boot, only it
ain't blank. It has three characters printed on it, which makes
it even more of an annoyance.
