php5

Hi.

I have fiddled some with php-5.0.0b2 and made packages for 9.2. I have put
this online at my server here:

http://www.deserve-it.com/9.2/php5/

I need help testing this, so..., any brave person should help out, I don't
really know if I have time with this... The missing binary rpm's are simply
the ones that didn't want to compile and these would need some manual
fiddling..., here's a list of those:

php-adodb
php-apc
php-dbg
php-domxml
php-mbstring
php-overload
php-pear
php-pgsql
php-recode
php-sqlite
php-sybase
php-wddx
php-xmms
php-xslt
php-zip

Cheers.

wouldn't it be better to have one .src.rpm for these like we have with
myspell?

[Bug 6462] [snort] New: snort should not be started with "-s" option from /etc/init.d/snort

http://qa.mandrakesoft.com/show_bug.cgi?id=6462

Summary: snort should not be started with "-s" option from
                    /etc/init.d/snort
           Product: snort
           Version: 2.0.2-3mdk
          Platform: PC
        OS/Version: All
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: packaging
        AssignedTo: florin <at> mandrakesoft.com
        ReportedBy: mr <at> uue.org

-s is a bad option because one has to change /etc/init.d/snort if one wants to
log to a database as well - and it takes some time to find the reason why
nothing is written to the database...

So this should be either put into /etc/sysconfing/snort or as a better
alternative /etc/snort/snort.conf should come with "output alert_syslog:
LOG_AUTH LOG_ALERT" (remove leading "#" in line 430). With this last
alternative, logging is only controlled by the config file, which makes life
easier...

[Bug 5957] [rpm] 9.2RC2 - Package installs fails to update menues

http://qa.mandrakesoft.com/show_bug.cgi?id=5957

------- Additional Comments From sinner <at> escomposlinux.org 2003-12-01 04:20 -------
You can temporaly solve the effects of this bug updating the system menus.

* From the Graphical environment:
 - launch Mandrake Control Center
 - Go to "System" and launch "MenuDrake"
 - Click on "System Menu Configure"
 - Click on "Save" and wait until it finishes updating.
 - Exit MenuDrake.
 - Check menus and see everything there.

* From the command line:
 - as root, run "update-menus -v "
 - After no more messages appear, press "Enter".
 - Check menus and see everything there.

Please, solve this as it is *very* annoying. Mandrake seems to be very buggy
for this (small) annoyance, as recovering from the problem is not intuitive at
all.

Somehow I'm finding it more convenient with seperate RPMs so that I can
write script easily to update it. Probably it's just a matter of
personal taste. Anyway, the harm is done :-D

[Bug 6463] [evolution] New: Evolution 1.4.4: undefined symbol: e_address_widget_new_control' -- FIX INCLUDED

         Component: evolution
        AssignedTo: fcrozat <at> mandrakesoft.com

When running Evolition any time after the initial config, upon startup the
following error appears:

Cannot activate component OAFIID:GNOME_Evolution_Addressbook_ShellComponent :
The error from the activation system is:
g_module_open of `/usr/lib/evolution/1.4/components/libevolution-addressbook.so'
failed with `/usr/lib/evolution/1.4/components/libevolution-addressbook.so:
undefined symbol: e_address_widget_new_control'

This effects both the Mandrake 9.2 and current cooker evolution-1.4.4-8mdk
packages as well as the RedHat RawHide packages.

The solution: It is a function prototype mismatch:

In gui/component/e-address-widget.c the function should read:

[Bug 6464] [XFree86] New: xvt in place of xterm breaks xinit -- WORK-AROUND

http://qa.mandrakesoft.com/show_bug.cgi?id=6464

Summary: xvt in place of xterm breaks xinit -- WORK-AROUND

        AssignedTo: flepied <at> mandrakesoft.com
        ReportedBy: chris <at> soma.978.org

XFree86-4.3-23mdk adds a patch to use xvt rather then xterm as the root terminal
in XFree86. This breaks when one tries to use xinit and effects Mandrake 9.2 as
well as Cooker.

xvt: Unknown option '-n'.
xvt: Use --help to get a list of available command line options.

It seems that the patch changes the terminal from xterm to xvt, but does not
change the options passed to it.

Work-arounds:

* sym-link xvt to xterm
* make xvt a shell script that translates the parameters

Real fix:

I've got this too after updating tonight. In fact, in my case it prevents
KDE from working at all: KWin crashes at startup, and if I look
in .xsession-errors I can see it complaining that the default decoration is
corrupt.

[Bug 6465] [kdebase-kdm] New: kdm passwordless login doesn't work

http://qa.mandrakesoft.com/show_bug.cgi?id=6465

Summary: kdm passwordless login doesn't work
           Product: kdebase-kdm
           Version: 3.1.93-37mdk
          Platform: All
        OS/Version: All
            Status: UNCONFIRMED

          Priority: P2
         Component: kdebase-kdm
        AssignedTo: kde <at> mandrakesoft.com
        ReportedBy: neitzke <at> fas.harvard.edu

In kcontrol under "Login Manager" / "Convenience" I can set up passwordless
login, and the settings are remembered if I later visit the same page in
kcontrol, but kdm ignores them: I always have to type the user's password in
order to log in.
