are you talking about installation?

package MySQL 4.0 instead of 3.23

Hi Warly,

if I am not mistaken, you package MySQL usually. I suggest to package
4.0 instead of 3.23. Sorry if that has come up before, but I did not
see it on the list.

Reasoning: 4.0 is declared gamma (which most companies would call a
production release ;) since mid-Dezember and according to the 4.0.8
release comments, 4.0.10 is going to be declared stable, if no
disaster happens.

Because 4.0.10 is currently in the binary building process (i.e. they
should be available next week), MySQL 4.0 as stable will be available
a good deal before Mandrake 9.1 goes gold. I hope you see what I am
pointing at. It would be nice to ship the (at the moment of shipping)
stable MySQL version with 9.1.

Even if something unexpected happens and only 4.0.11 (would probably
be about 1 month later) would be declared stable, I think the
reasoning still holds.

Sorry, if this comes up late, but I only noticed that cooker still
ships with 3.23 after a discussion with Vincent on the expert list.

TIA,

	Benjamin.

Yes, but I just tried it from MCC, clicking on the card name and going through
the dialog, and got the same result (256K).

rsync dead on uninett

This is BAD news :o(

If you go in rsync on uninett to
Mandrake-devel/cooker, it's just a recursive link to
itself, so if anybody tries to rsync from uninett now,
they can kiss Cooker goodbye!

WHY HAVE YOU CHANGE KDM WITH THIS HORRIBLE LOGIN MANAGER ??????

Hi all,

I just upgrade my Mandrake and when I restart my X session my kdm has been
replaced by an HORRIBLE login manager.
Can you explain me why Mandrake has patch the original kdm to changed it in
this fucking DM that I hate ?
Do you want to be worst than RedHat who patch KDE ? Everybody has said that
RedHat had a bad attitude and they had lost lot's of users. You are making
the same but your changes are MUCH MORE VISIBLE and the Linux web sites will
not take much time to make a bad review of the NEW FUCKINg feature

I just want to upgrade my MandrakeClub level to help you but if you continue
in this direction I won't and I will just let MandrakeSoft die.

So REMOVE THIS FUCKING LOGIN MANAGER OR YOU WILL LOSE ME AND MOREOVER MONEY !!

Shift

PS : Or create your own DM but don't touch to kdm. Kdm is part of KDE !!

[Bug 1170] [drakxtools] monitor probing not done before plug&play() choice

https://qa.mandrakesoft.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1170

------- Additional Comments From ccomb <at> noos.fr 2003-02-01 02:09 -------
But you CAN have the name. Just do a probe when launching monitor config, and
display it in the parenthesis. It must be very easy to implement.
(And how do you get the name without MonitorDB ? ddc only gives you the monitor
id like "hglec20" for mine).

- use a station where ddc probe is working,
and whose monitor is recognized by ldetect-lst.
- launch XFdrake
- click on Monitor
- select "custom monitor"
- click OK twice
- click again on "Monitor"

Pb--> The "plug&play()" item has nothing in parenthesis.
This makes the user think that probing has not worked.

Expected behaviour: The ddc probe should be done *before* displaying the
"plug&play" item. And the result of the probe should be displayed in the
parenthesis.

[Bug 115] [kernel] DHCP is not operating with 3COM 3C905B NIC LM9.0beta3

https://qa.mandrakesoft.com/show_bug.cgi?id=115

------- Additional Comments From cybercfo <at> gkmweb.com 2003-02-01 02:10 -------
I have been continuing to troubleshoot this problem and have narrowed it down. I believe it relates to APIC,
as booting the network.img with 'linux noapic' allows the DHCP process to continue.

When doing this however, the console coninues to receive an APIC error coninuously throughout the install process.

I am sorry that I am not a programmer and cannot help deal at a code level with this issue. I know problems with
APIC go back to 9.0, so I am sure you want to know about this. Let me know about an dpecific further testing you
might like done.

My hardware (this is a testing rig, so the hardware looks a little goofy):

Soyo KT400 Dragon Ultra
  VIA KT400 northbrigde
  8235 SOuthbridge
  VIA Rhine onboard nic
  C-media 8738 onboard 5.1 sound

256 MB PC2100 DDR SDRAM
750-MHz AMD Duron
16 MB PCI VooDoo3
2-2.1 GB ATA33 harddrives
300w power supply
floppy, cdrom, ps/2 mouse and keyboard

Im totaly agree with you , the mdklogin manager is ugly and
anti-ergonomic , IMHO its a very bad idea using two step to login.

i hope this is only an alpha release :/

I can't speak for MandrakeSoft, but my feelings are "So long, and don't

drakfont need updating?

Just did a fresh install.
Ran drakfont to convert MS fonts. It processed all the fonts fine,
then:

Finished - font files created
sh: line 1: /usr/X11R6/bin/xftcache: No such file or directory

retarting xfs......
chkfontpath: error opening
/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/drakfont/ttf/fonts.dir, unwilling to add path
chkfontpath: error opening
/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/drakfont/Type1/fonts.dir, unwilling to add path
Restarting X Font Server. [ OK ]

The End...........................

Doesn't sound good.
