[Bug 63308] mdkapplet/mdkonline look for updates but don't show them.

mdkapplet won't update urpmi or perl-URPM.

Found something else. This happened earlier when there was an update to urpmi.
Today I suspect it may be perl-URPM-4.32-1-mdv2011.0.x86_64. But then I'm not
the expert... What seems to be happening is mdkapplet/mdkonline work normally
unless there are certain package management packages such as urpmi or
perl-URPM. Then it does as in screen shot and downloads the update list but
can't open that in the GUI. Obviously I don't know if there are other packages
besides these two that are affected.

mdkonline not showing updates in GUI

Don't know if this helps. First there were additional updates added to list
since snap shot 9 including urpmi and gurpmi. I manually installed one at a
time and reran 'mdkapplet --testing':

1. genhdlist2-6.1-1-mdv2011.0.x86_64
2. perl-URPM-4.33-1-mdv2011.0.x86_64
3. urpmi-6.65-1-mdv2011.0.noarch

and then mdkapplet would again show updates as in screen shot 10.png. And to
continue testing I selected 'update' and it downloaded and installed them.

Hi

This is an old problem which appears even on RpmDrake.
The problem is alwais the same, the list of updates is empty when main updates
are available.

In this moment there are a lot of Bug reports opened on rpmdrake but noone is
referred to this problem.

Bye Bye, Moreno

[Bug 63410] New: List of updates empty when main updates (urpmi, rpm etc.) are available

https://qa.mandriva.com/show_bug.cgi?id=63410

             Bug #: 63410
       RPM Package: rpmdrake-5.26.9-1
Summary: List of updates empty when main updates (urpmi, rpm
                    etc.) are available
    Classification: Mandriva Linux
           Product: Mandriva Linux
           Version: Cooker
          Platform: All
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: NEW
          Severity: normal
          Priority: normal
         Component: Commercial packages
        AssignedTo: jvdm <at> mandriva.com
        ReportedBy: moreno.mg <at> gmail.com
         QAContact: bugs <at> mandrivalinux.org

This is a very old Bug but I think nobody signalled it.

When main updates like urpmi, rpm etc.,are available the list of updates in
RpmDrake is empty.
After manual updating of these main packages, RpmDrake return to work normally.

I do not think wich is a problem inside of RpmDrake because it appear even in
MdkApplet, may be the source of the problem is in perl-URPM.

Bye Bye, Moreno
