[Bug 56124] gnome-power-manager, NEW: gnome-inhibit-applet does not prevent sleep mode

https://qa.mandriva.com/show_bug.cgi?id=56124

       RPM Package: gnome-power-manager-2.28.1-1mdv2010.0.src.rpm
Summary: gnome-inhibit-applet does not prevent sleep mode
    Classification: Mandriva Linux
           Product: Mandriva Linux
           Version: 2010.0
          Platform: i586
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: NEW
          Severity: normal
          Priority: normal
         Component: Core Packages
        AssignedTo: pterjan <at> mandriva.org
        ReportedBy: kraemer <at> informatik.uni-kl.de
         QAContact: bugs <at> mandrivalinux.org

Description of problem:
In earlier releases (gnome 2.26) this applet prevented gnome from entering any
sleep modes. This is very useful, if you close your lid of the laptop to move
it somewhere else and you don't want it to go to sleep.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Add this applet to the panel and click on it to prevent the sleep mode
2. close the lid of the laptop
3. it shouldn't go to sleep - it should say: "An application is preventing
sleep mode" or sth. similar.

I have this problem here (arch 32bits, not 64). But only if kdebluetooth
started on boot. If I close kdebluetooth and start it again, get obex-server
running fine!

Actually, I did read both your message above (comment #5) and the NoteEdit web
page it points to. I also read the Canorus page pointed to by the NoteEdit
page.

Even if Canorus had been packaged for 2010.0, Canorus's own web page says it is
not ready for real use.

What I am now suggesting is that Nted, which I understand to be a non-KDE-based
fork of NoteEdit, and which is _already_ in the 2010.0 contrib release area, be
considered NoteEdit's replacement--at least until Canorus's own developers
consider it ready to be used. Based on what its web page says, packaging it up
would be wasted effort at this point.
