Hello,

I have Samsung S3310 cell phone which I want to use for SMS

When I connect Phone to my System it is mounted as /dev/ttyACM0 but with minicom
it gives error can not write to /dev/ttyACM0. I tryed creating link to
/dev/ttyS4 still same problem.

I have run scanmodem utility as root and the output is as follows.
Unfortunately I can not
sqeezout useful information out of that. So I need help in this
regard. On windows same
phone is mounted as COM5 and I can query modem AT command and
responses OK there.

Thanks and Regards

Raja

Re: Please help for samsung S3310 Cell phone as Modem

Raja,

If you have wvdial, which appears you do, please apply this part as
recommended by scanModem

/*******

If your modem is an
  external USB type,
  connected by an external serial cable,
  or mounted internally on an ISA card,
 then scanModem would not access it.

 Try with Root permission
  $ sudo wvdialconf  /etc/wvdial.conf
  to detect these modem types and some USB modems.
  If the detection is successful, read the DOCs/wvdial.txt .
  Edit the /etc/wvdial.conf with Root permission:
       sudo  gedit  /etc/wvdial.conf
  will be able to dial out with Root permission:
       sudo wvdial

*******/

Let us know if wvdialconf found the modem and that you tried to
dialout to see if you could get connection.

Regards,

Antonio

Re: Modem

Andre,

scanModem reports that you have an hsfmodem, which needs hsfmodem
drivers from linuxant. But you need tar.gz generic package to build
them, since there appears to be no drivers matching your kernel:

Re: ModemData.txt

Cesar,

scanModem recommends agrsm modem drivers:

Download:
11c1:0620                       2.6.31  agrsm06pci-2.1.80_20100106_i386.deb

Install with
$ sudo dpkg -i agrsm06pci-2.1.80_20100106_i386.deb

Also download & install
automation & testing                    agrsm-tools_0.0.1_all.deb

After installing both files, check to see if wvdialconf detects it:
$ sudo wvdialconf /etc/wvdial.conf

if it does not find the modem port, create a wvdial.conf (look in
Modem/DOCs/wvdial.txt for some clues to create a wvdial.conf file then
attempt to dialout. Let us know if it works or not.

Re: Please help for samsung S3310 Cell phone as Modem

Raja,

I hope that others on list(discuss <at> linmodems.org) can help you with
this issue.
I am sorry to run out of ideas and things to try out.

Apr  2 21:27:27 DELL-1710 kernel: [ 1566.069218] tty_port_close_start:
tty->count = 1 port count = 0.

I do believe that you are correct in determining that the device is
created and then closed immediately. Maybe some fix like Yair did
with slmodem code to get it working after 2.6.31.X kernels? I can
relay your messages to wvdial code maintainers, but I am not sure that
they could find a fix? But I'll do it if that will help fix your
connection. Hope that someone on the list can help, let me know if I
should CC: wvdial/wvstreams list to see if they have a fix?

Regards,

Antonio
