My bet is on forgetting to select the appropiate ide controller, so it
falls back to ide-generic which doesn't support dma.

I just solved the issue compiling into kernel those VIA options that previously were compiled as modules. I guess when compiled as modules its precedence is lower than when compiled into kernel.
    Thanks for your support,

I try not to touch the toolchain if I don't have to, but google
found http://sourceware.org/ml/libc-alpha/2007-09/msg00058.html

 Unfortunately, it then found
http://sourceware.org/ml/libc-alpha/2007-10/msg00003.html - reading
the reply to that suggests that i586 might be broken in other ways.

Personally, I gave up building (on the desktop) for i586 in the
gcc-3.3 days, too many applications seemed to be broken for me but
fine for people using i686. I suspect that anything less than i686
works (if it does) by luck in recent toolchains.

Sorry, that probably isn't the answer you were looking for, but
much as I like people hanging on to old kit, something newer will
probably work better. Failing that, unless someone on this list has
a better suggestion, perhaps clfs-1.0 might work.

Where can I find the past 2007 archives

Hello just a question please.

I need some information posted october-2006
, and would like to know where can I find the
this archive. The tar of that month would be really
helpful if there is not an online access to the archive.

Thanks in advance,

Israel.

I emailed one of the developers who hosted the mailing lists before I
did, we are trying to see if we can recover them but the worst might
have happened and they might be lost. I hope google has some cache of
them,or ask on the lists again and we would be happy to help.

This type of message usually means a header has not been found.
The message about that will only be a warning, and would be
somewhere before these errors. But I think we can work out what is
missing...

In the completed system I'm using, PTHREAD_ONCE_INIT seems to be
defined in /usr/include/pthread.h. So, I expect you to have
/tools/include/pthread.h (installed by glibc, specified by
'--with-headers=' in section 5.9.1). Do you ?

Greetings,

thanks for your help. the problem with gcc not cross-compiling seems to be
over. I am now having a problem with entering the chroot environment. I dont
know if /tools/bin should be in the .bashrc search path. Please find below
details of the problem.

clfs:~$ echo $CLFS

At this point, we use the version of chroot which is in root's PATH
(using 'su' changes the PATH), so what that was set to in bashrc is not
directly relevant.

Missing 'chroot' on the host ?

If that's the case, you *might* manage if you invoke
/tools/bin/chroot instead of just 'chroot', don't know. I think it
ought to work, but I've never needed to try.
