Okay...I prefer seds for education where practical:

sed -i '/^ARCH_FLAGS\*=/d' solenv/inc/unx{lngi{4,5,6},fbsdi}.mk

I can confirm that the segfault is gone with the new version of
GTK+....now to figure out how to recreate those gstreamer profiles that
I shouldn't have deleted. :-)

Firefox-1.5 and profiles

Hi all you knowledgable people,

I'm sorry but I just don't understand it. I used almost every
version of firebird from 1.0 to 1.0.7, some compiled the
"classical" BLFS way, some the "Mozilla" way. All of them
worked quite nicely, and all of them let me run 2 instances at
once with different profiles ('firefox -P profile1',
'firefox -P profile2'). From the first Deer Park I tried up to
the final 1.5, this doesn't work anymore. Today I did try said
1.5 with '--disable-profilesharing' and a second time with
'--enable-profilesharing'. I cannot see any difference. I *can*
start firefox with one of the two profiles, but when I try to
run a second instance with the other profile, I get another
one of the first. No way I can have 2 different profiles running
at once ... So I simply don't get this profile sharing thing.
Or is this something different? Any help on how to restore
my beloved functionality would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Wow, there exists a person who actually *wants* multiple profiles? We
spent a lot of time getting around that hassle. :/

qt

I'm working with qt on a fresh lfs-dev system. The latest suitable for
KDE is version 3.3.5. I've built about all the dependencies and am
trying to get qt validated.

My access is via a chroot from an LFS 6.1 system.

During the make, I am getting a segfault from the built uic application.
I went back and tried version 3.3.4 which is known to work with a gcc4
compiler and it segfaults too.

There was a message in blfs-support in September about this in
blfs-support, but I didn't see a solution. Is this a chroot issue?

Has anyone else seen this problem?

Answering my own post, it looks like it is a chroot issue. When
rebooting into the LFS-dev system and running the same commands, qt
builds fine. I can't test it until I've built KDE, but I suspect it
will be OK.

Perhaps there should be a warning in the book that building qt in a
chroot environment may cause a failure to build.

Why not just say it's not recommended to build *anything* in chroot
(unless you have to).

Building in chroot allow to create a new full LFS+BLFS system while using the
existing old one.
