Comment(by ringlis):

 After a bit more work a better udev rule.

 I noticed some issues with original.

 Depending on what type of HDDs you use you could end up mounting them
 under /media as well as their normal mount point. You needed to exclude
 their device letter from the rule. Not exactly my intention.

 Also pumount sometimes would leave the device mounted if you
 inserted/removed the same device several times. You ended up with several
 /dev/sd%1 mounted on the same mount point but with different /dev/sd%1
 assignment. By changing the pumount argument from /dev/sd%1 to
 /media/usb%n it seems to have resolve this issue.

 So far this new rule mounts/umounts without an issue. It also removes the
 /media/usb%n directory when you remove the device.

 Using mount to mount the devices you need to have a /etc/fstab entry with
 correct write permissions. I wanted dynamically mounted usbdrives, mount

Comment(by ringlis):

 Seems the 71-removable-media-1 rule resolved most issues I had with the
 original rule but it would also mount any concurrent thumb drive to the
 same /media directory.

 Added kernel ID vs partition number to the link/mount/umount statement to
 differentiate between the multiple thumb drives.

 Recommend updating this package. Xulrunner-1.9.1.7 or 1.9.2, Firefox-3.5.x
 or 3.6, and Thunderbird-3.0.1pre or 3.0.1 release will not run if compiled
 using ac_add_options--with-system-sqlite unless the version is =>
 3.6.16.1. I could not find a 3.6.16.1 source or patch so I went with the
 latest sqlite.  BLFS-SVN-201001xx uses 3.6.16.

Comment(by dj <at> …):

 Yes it is on my todo list, but don't hesitate to open bugs for others as
 you find newer packages, it's one less thing to do, and is helpful.

 Additionally, I'm using the full package (not the amalgamation) and using
 the configure script, despite the recommendation of the developers, it
 seems to work as expected (at least on LFS).

 Regarding the Mozilla packages, also of interest is nspr-4.8.3
 (unreleased, but a diff with the firefox-3.6 release code is sufficient),
 nss-4.12.3.5 with 1.77 (current is 4.12.3.5-1.75, and again diff with ff
 release, which is huge because of the included CAs). I'll be updating the
 book soon, hopefully within the week (as I'm still testing 'everything'
 out, including updated xorg packages, a new suggestion for the gnome
 packages, several newer libs, etc...that time frame can easily slip).

 Thanks.

 As of Firefox-3.6 and possibly before (never tested java with my 3.5.7
 build).

 <snip>
 $JAVA_HOME/jre/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so \
 /usr/lib/firefox-<version>/plugins

 Needs to be replaced with the new java plugin.
 $JAVA_HOME/jre/lib/i386/libnpjp2.so \
 /usr/lib/firefox-<version>/plugins

 Firefox-3.6 will not recognize the old libjavaplugin_oji.so.

 I've noticed that Firefox-3,6 does not create the plugin directory when
 compiled against xulrunner.

 I realize while updating S-Lang, that it actually belongs to the
 Programming section, so it has to be moved.
